About Me

Hello everyone...
My name is Alyson and I have been a Registered Childminder in the Halesowen area for 18 wonderful years. I come from a nursing background and have three lovely daughters of my own who are all now grown up.

Childminding is simply a lifestyle for me; I have never viewed it as just a job. I have welcomed dozens of children into my home over the years and on several occasions have cared for them from when they were six-weeks-old until they have reached secondary school age. My primary aim is to offer a varied, educational and cheerful structure to my weekly activites. I visit toddler groups, soft-play centres, garden centres, 'Pick-your-own' fruit and vegetable farms and parks on a regular basis. I encourage storytime, painting and drawing, as well as reading and writing to elder children. I also like to run weekly projects, for example the children individually created cards and wrote letters to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge congratulating them on the birth of Princess Charlotte. Each child personally recieved a letter from Kensington Palace thanking them for their kind wishes and effort.

I implement all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework in to my daily outings and activities. Your child will have their own individual "Learning Journey", which is a journal that outlines all progression and achievements on a weekly basis. I invite parents to contribute to the journall too. It's a great way to monitor growth and development, and acts as a keepsake you can cherish when it's completed.

I understand completely that it can be a little stressful for parents to leave their children with somebody for the first time. To assist with the transition for parents and children, I offer a "settling in" period. Prior to my services commencing offically I welcome the child on several occasions, for a few hours in the morning or afternoon, to become familiar with myself, the setting and the other children. I like to take the oppoirtunity during this time to establish a strong relationship with parents and encourage effective communication from both parties. I am always at the end of the phone.

I am extremely passionate about providing exceptional childcare and strive to work with parents constantly to build a solid foundation for a child's learning and personal development in a safe and secure environment. My aptitude, professionalism and devotion have contributed to me achieving "Outstanding" on my two previous OFSTED inspections.
