About Me
I grew up in a small rural village in Kent, surrounded by farming land and the North Downs. Despite a challenging home life, I did very well at school and left with excellent grades both in my GCSEs and A-Levels. After leaving school at 18 years old, I began a 4 year career in the care industry. I began as a support worker for the elderly and end of life patients, and I ended as a residential home manager for children with disabilities and epilepsy. 3 years ago I returned to formal education and have recently graduated from the University of the Arts London, with a First Class Honours Degree in Fashion Branding and Visual Merchandising. Along side my studies I have been working as a part time nanny. For the past 2 years I have been with a family in Ealing with 2 amazing young girls.
My Experience
I have been babysitting children since I was 16 years old, for families in and around my home town, where my duties included cooking dinners, organising and engaging the children in activities, and overseeing nighttime routines. In 2018 I achieved a level 5 diploma in Childcare Studies, whilst also working at a residential care site disabled children. Here I worked on a number of homes, with children with varied abilities and needs, and even worked in management my final year. My responsibilities included assisting with personal care, preparing meals, assisting with eating, assisting with mobility (including following any physiotherapy activities prescribed), sending parents regular updates, liaising with parents and working professionals (e.g. social workers, doctors, teachers, etc.), accompanying students to offsite or afterschool activities, administering morning and night time medications. Most recently I have been working for an amazing family in West London. I have been with them for 2 years working Monday-Tuesday afternoon, and Tuesday-Wednesday mornings. The children were 1 and 4 when I started and are now 3 and 6! My duties with this family include collecting the children from school/ nursery, taking the children to and from after school clubs, hosting play dates, cooking dinner, supporting nighttime routines, supporting morning routines, leading fun activities/ games.
My Qualifications
I hold 11 GCSEs, 5 A-levels and a Level 5 Diploma in Childcare studies and a BA Degree in Fashion Branding and Visual Merchandising
