About Me

Hi my name is Margaret Clark of Maggie May's Happy Days at Sandy lane Bradford where I live with my husband and we are both DBS checked.. I have 3 grown up daughters a step son and have 5 grandchildren .I have worked in education for 27 years now and feel that I want a change by working for myself helping young children learn through play. In February 2018 I was OFSTED GRADED VERY GOOD
In my setting I can provide a warm, caring, and fun environment where children can explore many new learning experiences.I have continuous provision set up which ranges from dressing,a comfy reading corner to messy play, painting and model making. We will celebrate different cultures and taste different foods. A weekly baking session will take place where children can explore different textures and ingredients making something achievable to be proud of.I know my own children liked to bake when they were younger which they remember well.
I have a private fenced off garden to the rear which contains a bottom paved area and a grassed area at the top. There is sand and water provision where children can have lots of fun exploring.
I believe children learn through play and need to be given many experiences to grow and develop there communication and social skills. At my setting we use Makaton to help develop communication and language skills and the children pick it up quite well. We enjoy stories and do a lot of activities around our no term story. We learn to develop our skills from the world around us from mini beasts to planting our sunflowers, counting and learning to write our names and now we have jut started to do phonics as part of our daily routine. We love singing and dancing and saying and signing hello in a morning to all our friends.
Swimming takes place on a monthly basis during term time and trips out to play centres along with walks to the park or exploring the woods pretending we are going on a bear hunt are just a few of the things your child can enjoy.
In my setting we enjoy a lot of sensory play, using different techniques and textures. Its never a dull moment at Maggie Mays.
So if you want the best for your child or would like to come for a visit please don't hesitate to get in touch all are welcome I would love to hear from you..

My Experience

When my own children were young I became a childminder mainly because a lot of my friends wanted to go back to work and wouldn't leave their children with anyone else!!!
When my youngest daughter went to school I decided to go into education starting off working with special needs children where I gained a lot of experience. I then worked in mainstream school working with children with Autism, to then having many different opportunities.I went to work with behaviour difficulties, then to become a learning mentor where I would work with many children from different back grounds, running social skills groups breakfast clubs, art club and even a gymnastic club. Working with parents at all times encouraging and supporting in them how ever I could.
Working my way to covering in classes to teaching the curriculum and planning lessons and even worked teaching in a private school in Skegness for a couple of years.
I work and specialise in communication with special needs, from Makaton intensive interaction and Pecs which are all different ways of communication.

Margaret and her team are fantastic, they are all happy, enthusiastic and love the children at Maggie Mays as they do their own. I feel confident and safe leaving my daughter with Maggie, knowing that she will be cared for and all of her well being needs will be taken care of.

Margaret is a fantastic childminder - my son has been going to her setting since he was around 8 months old. He settled in very quickly and now grabs his shoes and gets into his car seat ready for Maggie to collect him! He comes home either worn out or in a fantastic mood each day, along with his diary of activities, all of which are imaginative, educational and fun. He has a great bond with Maggie and I am at ease knowing he is safe and well cared for. The setting is fantastic, clean, large and very well used. Maggie Mays Happy Days is a real credit to Margaret. :-) xx
