I am a reliable and calm person with a caring nature which helps me to build a good relationship with young children, I like reading, going to the theatre and being outside. I have three grown up children, two girls and a boy. Since becoming a nanny I’ve enjoyed meeting new people at toddler groups, setting up play activities in the families homes and generally being out and about extending my knowledge and understanding when teaching new things to children through play.
My Experience
For the whole of my career I’ve looked after children, for 12 years I worked in a preschool meeting lots of families and their children which as part of a team I was able to help the children extend on their abilities and grow in confidence while keeping them safe and happy. I’ve worked for four families in recent years as a nanny and loved getting to know the different needs of each child and working with the parents to achieve the best for their children.

Paula joined our family when our daughter was 14 months old. Straight away Paula took the
time to really understand Tabitha as a unique individual, which really made us feel
comfortable in making the choice of nanny vs. nursery. Tabitha was a quiet, cautious baby
and whilst I, (a first-time mum) was a bit concerned that that might always be the case, was
so delighted when we gradually started to see Tabitha gain more and more confidence in both
the world around her and in herself. Now, Tabitha is 2.5 years old and such a confident,
inquisitive, fearless child - it warms my heart to know that her development was significantly
to do with Paula's calm, personable and patient style. I have learned so much about my
daughter through listening to Paula and her view on every child being different - and it was
this approach which helped us hugely through the big milestones; giving up the
dummy, potty-training, starting pre-school sessions etc.
There are many things you weigh up when considering hiring a nanny, but when we saw what
Tabitha was getting out of her time spent with Paula it was a complete no-brainer. From
imaginative, exploratory and messy play to trips out whether that be to playgroups, library,
farm, park or supermarket - Tabitha's days have been filled with so much adventure and
learning about the world. Paula's experience from her years as a pre-school assistant have
been so helpful in keeping Tabitha on the right track when it comes to the Early Years
Foundation, but all of this has been covered in the most implicit and gentle way - perfect for
Tabby's age group.
Paula is one of the most reliable and flexible people I've ever worked with - nothing is ever
too much whether that be a few extra hours here and there, to doing a few errands around
the house, to changing the pattern of her hours depending on my own work requirements to
evening and weekend help, too. She has never once let us down in any capacity in 1.5 years
and any family would be extremely lucky to have her.
In addition to Paula's experience in various childcare settings, she also has 3 of her own grown
up children. Over time, Paula became an integral part of our family unit and is often someone
my husband and I turn to for any parental advice. She has really helped us not only in caring
for Tabitha but also in growing our own confidence as parents. I am so happy that we made
the decision to hire Paula and firmly believe that our family has a friend for life in her. Tabitha
certainly wouldn't have it any other way!
