About Us
Woodlands Nursery is set in a beautiful house surrounded by a large, safe and resourceful garden that children access freely. We promote the outdoors as an important learning environment.
The Woodlands approach to learning, development and assessment places play at the heart of what we do. Play helps young children to learn and develop through doing and talking, which research has shown to be the best means by which young children learn to think. Our setting uses the ‘Early Years Outcomes” and the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ to plan and provide a range of experiences for your children. In our nursery, we use the key worker system to help children to form secure attachments. The key person gives special attention to their key children and to their parents to make a closer bond. This facilitates the child’s transition from home to the nursery.
Our practice in Woodlands is outstanding. We are a caring, motivated and creative team. Every childcare practitioner holds a level 3 qualification in childcare and education. The nursery supports and encourages their professional development.
Our aims are to:
• Offer a homely, warm and friendly environment in a mixed age group.
• Provide quality care and education for children below statutory school age.
• Motivate children to play outdoors and indoors extending their communication skills and supporting their emotional and physical development.
• We allow children to make their own choices and have free flow between outdoors and indoors.
• We promote healthy eating, offering freshly cooked meals, sugar free and non-processed food.
• We work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop.
• We offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
The staff code:
• Give time and attention to each child.
• Talk with the children about their interests and activities.
• Take into consideration each child’s views and respect their wishes.
• Help children to experience and benefit from the activities provided.
• Allow the children to explore and be adventurous in safety.
