My Summary

My Experience

I have had a variety of live-in Au Pair and live-out Nanny roles. My duties have included school and extra-curricular activity pick-ups and drop-offs, preparing children for school, homework help, English tuition (formally and informally), nappy changing, potty training, errand running, housework tasks, playing with children, meal preparation, bathing children, and putting children to bed. I am experienced in working with children between 1 and 11 years old.

September 2022 – July 2023; School Counsellor; Brookland Junior School, Hill Top, London.
I volunteered as a primary school counsellor one day per week, receiving fortnightly supervision from a BACP accredited counsellor. I had three children on my caseload who experienced a range of challenges.
My role included offering these children a safe space to explore their emotions, taking interest in their lives and thinking with them about their difficulties.

October 2021 – June 2023, Childcare Assistant, Ealing, London.
I assisted a registered childminder in providing day care (~25hrs/week) for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
My responsibilities included planning and implementing activities aimed at promoting healthy development.
I also monitored and reported developmental progress according to the EYFS statutory framework.

September – October 2021, 1:1 Learning Support Officer, WLFS Primary, Hammersmith, London.
I provided 1:1 support (25hrs/week) for a child with autism in year 4.
This included planning and implementing interventions aimed at developing his social and emotional skills.

June 2020 – August 2021, Childcare Provider, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
During this period, I worked full-time between three families in their homes, including six children who were between 15 months and 9 years old upon starting.

October 2018 – March 2020, Childcare Provider, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Over two years, I worked with three children aged 8, 4 and 21 months upon starting, in their home.

October 2017 – April 2018, Childcare Provider, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I was responsible for the after-school care of an 8-year-old in his family home.

Spring/Summer 2018 and 2019, Live-in Nanny, Zurich, Switzerland.
I spent two spring/summer periods (6 months in total) living with a multicultural family, providing childcare for their children aged 8 and 5 upon starting.

May - August 2017, Live-in Au Pair, Sicily, Genova and Trento, Italy.
I spent May through August living and working with three families across Italy, including a total of seven children with ages ranging from 4 to 11 years old.

February - April 2017, Live-in Nanny, Geneva, Switzerland.
I spent February through April living with a multicultural family, providing extensive childcare for their two children ages 9 and 7.

June - August 2016, Live-in Au Pair, Basque Country, Spain.
I spent a summer providing childcare for three children ages 8, 5 and 2.

I am ever keen to gain more experiences with different children not only to expand my personal knowledge and understanding of children's development, but simply because I find their company refreshing and light-hearted. I have created wonderful bonds in many of the families I have worked for and I hope to build similar relationships in my future work. I can provide references from or contact details for the previous families I have worked for. I feel that my cross cultural work and live-in experience with families means I understand that every family has a unique dynamic and needs. I am open-minded and adaptable, and I learn fast and take initiative.
