About Me

I am looking for a school holiday role as I am now employed in a term time educational position.
I am a parent to a my 20 year old son who is at university and my 24 year old daughter who works for the NHS.
I have worked in childcare for over 20 years, i began as a registered childminder then moved on to become a senior play-leader in a special needs pre school/ family support group.
My family are very active and enjoy taking long walks with our small dog. My son was a competitive swimmer and trained for many hours a week, as does my husband who is a triathlete. My daughter is a full time health care worker for the nhs. My husband is a contracts manager.
I recently worked Monday to Friday from 8 until 5pm as a nanny to a wonderful almost 3 year old. Unfortunately for me the role has now become redundant due to mum having another baby. I have worked for this family for over two years and they have said they will provide glowing references for any future families.
I have just been employed for a term time educational role so I am looking for a role to work alongside this during the school holidays.

My Experience

I have worked with children for over 20 years. I became a childminder just before my daughter was born. I registered with social services then with ofsted. I was a childminder for 8 years.
I moved to become a playleader in a special needs group when my youngest started school and within a year i had been promoted to the senior playleader. I then moved to become a teaching assistant in a children's assessment unit for the mental health service. From there i became a teaching assistant in a special needs school. After two and a half years i was contacted by the special needs support group, and asked to return as a senior supervisor/ deputy manager. Which i did and this is where i am currently employed. I have achieved many qualifications inhouse as well as outside, including college and university. I have experience of working very closely with children and their families from newborn to twelve years. Although my expertise is with the ages from newborn to five years. Including special needs. I hold a foundation degree in the science of early years as well as a current paediatric first aid, food hygiene, safeguarding qualification and I am just about to update my DBS. My role with the children is focusing on a fun way of differentiating activities for the greatest outcome for development. Focusing on each child's individual development in a fun and enjoyable way that gains the most from the child and gives the most. I write supporting developmental reports to support a child finding the most appropriate school as well as making appropriate referrals to agencies to support each child's needs. Above all, we have fun as we learn!
The last two years I have been a full time nanny to a wonderful girl who is almost 3. Sole charge mainly with mum working from home some of the week. We have a busy but free choice week of clubs, parks, groups, messy play, range of different activities at home and outside to set activities such as swimming lessons. I try to arrange at least one activity a day being outside as I feel it is very beneficial for children to experience all sensory environments.
- From October 2016 until the end of November 2018 I have been a sole charge nanny to a wonderful little girl who was 10 months when I started with this lovely family until November where she will be almost 3. I have supported all of her development with fun, free choice activities. We enjoyed a range of activities every day including messy play, arts & crafts, puzzles, stories/library visits, singing with puppets plus sign along support until communication was clearer verbally. Plus regular visits to parks, outside play during any weather, soft plays and swimming. I will miss this family greatly but it is time to move on to another wonderful family.
I have just been employed on a school term time basis so I am looking for a role during the school holidays. If I can support your family then please feel free to contact me. I look forward to meeting you.

My Qualifications

I have completed a foundation degree in early years, I also hold a nvq 3 in early years care and education.

Laura has been our nanny for 2 years and has been the most wonderful care giver to our daughter.
Unfortunately our change in family circumstances meant we were not able to continue having a nanny which was an incredibly difficult decision as Laura has very much become a part of our family.
Laura is a kind and gentle nanny, in tune with children and their emotions. She has always adapted activities and crafts to develop our daughter's skills and used her fantastic imagination to progress our daughter's learning. Laura has taught our daughter so much its hard to document but some examples include: colours, counting, animals, vocabulary, road safety, gross and fine motor skills, using cutlery, sign language and so much more.
Our daughter hugely enjoys her time with Laura and will very much miss her, as will we as parents. We never worried about leaving our daughter in Laura's care which was a huge relief and weight of our minds when at work. We cannot fault her as a nanny and any family would be so lucky to have her.
