Welcome to Mumma Ducks Childminding! Thank you for considering my setting as a childcare option for your child(ren).
I had my last inspection in February 2020 and recieved a grading of OUTSTANDING.
My name is Kirstie and I am 36years old. I live in the beautiful village of Great Barton with my husband (Chris) and our four children. My eldest children are both at full time school and my 4 year old attends nursery 3 days a week.
I left school with 10 GCSE’s and then went on to achieve my level 3 award in hairdressing; I had a very enjoyable career in the salon where I worked. Following the birth of our second child I made the decision to be a stay at home mum during the day and done some care work in the evenings at a local care home. I absolutely loved my time at home with our wonderful children and it was after we had our fourth (and final) child that I decided to become a childminder!
As I have worked full time during motherhood, I know only too well how gruelling it can be saucing suitable childcare for your most cherished little people. I have used both childminders and nurseries and found both to be fantastic when you find the right setting. My requirements where very specific, and I knew instantly when I met each prospective setting and their manager whether it was right for my child(ren). My promise is to provide a safe, secure and exciting learning environment for my mindees. I hope to welcome your child(ren) to my setting.
I live on a private lane, a stone’s throw away from a children’s park and playing field
Private drive with ample parking
Homely setting with plenty of space for the children to play
Large rear garden with lots of outdoor play equipment
Baby safety equipment in place including stair gates
Side entrance into my setting with children’s coat hooks, parent notice board, making dropping off and collection nice and easy for parents and giving the child a space for their own belongings
No access for children upstairs (apart from bathroom)
I am incorporating the curiosity approach into my setting – I encourage play with natural materials (I can provided more information on this approach if you would like some bedtime reading) ?
We like to spend a lot of time outdoors discovering the world around us
My Experience
I offer settling in periods before starting contracted hours so that children can get to know me and my setting and I can get to know them which most parents and children really like. I strive to give the children the best opportunities to explore the world around them so we can learn through play, keeping your children happy and safe is my upmost priority.
We go out daily to take part in various activities including, the park, soft play, forest schools, the zoo, the library, playgroups and other childminders houses for craft sessions that we run together as a group.
I am a member of the National Wildlife Trust so we like to spend a lot of time outside exploring what nature has to offer.
Some days we like to spend at home, on those days I will always set up a craft activity and the children are always free to get out all the toys I have to offer and of course explore our book snug area.
