My Summary

My Experience

I have tutored children for almost three years, tutoring from age 6-16. Through Jacari Bristol, I have also volunteered as a tutor with an emphasis on strengthening EFL children’s written and spoken communication skills. Most recently, I have become the Treasurer/Vice President of a charitable committee working with young refugees and asylum seekers (Jacari Bristol).

I am currently working both a permanent position and as a temporary nanny providing emergency and short-term childcare I am confident with children of all ages: The youngest child I have had in my care was four months old. Nannying allows me to work to my strengths as it requires a balanced and organised outlook paired with the confidence to keep the children entertained and cared for.

I am confident with ASD children. I have a younger brother with Asperger’s Syndrome and as a result have had to adapt the way I discuss problematic behaviour with children. I tend to take a tentative approach to discipline and prefer to problem solve/use distraction techniques as this is what worked best with my brother. I think it’s a really useful technique in approaching difficult behaviour from children who aren’t your own and have used it throughout my time as a tutor with younger children.
