About Me
I am a qualified Nurse Nurse presently employed in an independent school in Musselburgh. I assist the class teacher in Year One working with four and five year olds. I love my job but having recently moved to Lauder from Musselburgh, I would now like to work closer to home and would welcome the opportunity to care for a child or children in their own home. I am married. I have two grown up sons and two granddaughters aged 5 and 8. I have many and varied interests including cycling, knitting, playing guitar, interior design and arts and crafts.
My Experience
I began my career as a legal secretary and had always wanted to work with children. Upon reaching the age of 40 I decided to do something about it. I worked as a full time Nanny and was responsible for the care of three children whilst studying Child Care & Education at National Certificate level at College. I then gained employment at The Royal Blind School, Edinburgh working with children with special and complex needs. At the same time, I attended Stevenson College and studied Child Care & Education at Higher National level at evening classes. I worked at The Royal Blind School for four years and found the experience both rewarding and challenging. I enjoyed it very much. I then gained employment at Loretto Junior School in 2006 where I was based in the Nursery, often helping, when needed, in the Early Years. I am presently based in the Early Years which I find very rewarding as I know most of the children, and their parents coming in to Year One, having worked with them in Nursery.
My Qualifications
I passed ‘O’ grades in English ‘A’, Maths ‘C’, Art ‘C’, Modern Studies ‘C’ and Pitmans Typing and Office Skills ‘A’. National Certificate Child Care & Education, Higher National Certificate Child Care & Education. Certificates in First Aid, Food Hygiene, Sign Language for Visually Impaired Children, Mobility Training, Promoting Positive Behaviour In Children, Storytelling, Childhood Incontinence, Epilepsy and Emergency Medication Training.
My Availability
I am available Monday to Thursday. I collect my grandchildren from school on Fridays but could help if I was able to take your child/children with me.
