My Summary

My Experience

I had the privilege of running 8 weeks of summer sports camps across Southern Ontario. I was a basketball coach working with kids aged 5-14 from all different backgrounds. I was responsible for running 3 sports sessions a day teaching the kids the different skills of basketball, leading big group games and leading big and small group devotions. I grew greatly in confidence in coaching the kids and my confidence in speaking in front of people was also much enhanced. In my second year, I was the director of a team of coaches which was very different from my previous year. My primary job was to ensure all the kids had a fun, safe week at sports camp. I had to coordinate all the details with the camp coordinators to make sure everything ran on schedule and smoothly throughout the week. I also lead games and devotions as well as doing the Gospel presentation which was a huge blessing! My third year, I completed the role of Directors again and improved in my own self-confidence, leading others better and working with kids with special needs.

As part of my university course, I got to undertake a placement with Active Aberdeenshire. I was working with Active Schools, coaching children multi-sports, playground games, athletics and netball. My ability to coach was greatly enhanced as I gained a lot more skills to coach different sports than I could before the six weeks placement started.

I was a trainee P.E teacher doing work experience for college and also for the BP Student Tutoring Scheme. I got the opportunity to lead S1 to S3 classes on my own which was a fantastic experience for me to see what it was really like to be a P.E teacher.

Also, I currently look after my Pastor's kids regularly who are 6 and 3. I also have helped with creche on a Sunday morning which is for kids 0 - 3. I am also going to be starting helping out at Mother and Toddlers too which is for kids 0 - 4/5. I am a leader in both Children's Ministry (0-12) and Youth Ministry (10 -14) in my Church too.

I am free anytime as I am a distance learning part time student so I can fit my studying around my commitments.
