About Me
I was born in Surrey, obtained my GCE O 'levels, then went on to college for further studies. I worked in the hospitality trade for some years before leaving the UK to visit South Africa in 1974. I stayed longer than originally planned and met my husband, who has now sadly passed, and had four wonderful children, two of whom are twins!
Two of my children and one grandson and one granddaughter live here in the UK and I have one still in SA.
After many happy years I have recently returned to my homeland.
I have had many hobbies in the past including Dance, Horse riding, ice skating, love doing jigsaws and reading. Love all animals, have two crazy, spoilt dogs, so nice to be able to take them for walks here, yes, I brought them over with me, part of the family! Also dabble at gardening.
I am young at heart, age is but a number! Healthy, energetic, hardworking, reliable, caring who is willing to help over and above normal work duties.
Don't have a qualification in childcare but my experience speaks more than a piece of paper, with my own children, two of whom are asthmatic and one borderline ADD, plus all the children I have looked after in SA and in the UK.
That is me in a nutshell.
My Experience
I worked as an Au pair in SA, this has a different meaning in duties in SA TO the UK! Recently left a family I had worked for two and a half years.
Worked with different families over the past years most of whom I am still in contact with. The children have ranged in age from babies to 16 year old.
The duties were mainly connected with the needs of the children. Collecting from school, assisting with homework, projects, anything related to school requirements. also grocery shopping, errands required by the parents, general household requirements. making of snacks and light lunches, supper if required.
My aim is to keep the children happy, positive and motivated .
I love working with children watching them progress and how receptive they are , especially the younger ages. I treat your children as I would my own, with love, lots of fun, of course there has to be a touch of constructive discipline!
Children are precious to us, need nurturing, lots of attention and love to grow up and be confident young people, ready to face the big and sometimes difficult world we live in.
My Qualifications
GCE O'levels
City and Guilds 150, 151 and 149. These are all hospitality qualifications.
Hotel and Catering Institute Diploma, this includes, Nutrition, Hygiene, Housekeeping and Bookkeeping.
My Availability
My times stated in the chart are subject to negotiations with the family. I am happy to help out at anytime due to emergencies, parents work times. I worked for two different doctors and had many call outs due to the nature of their work out of normal hours.
