About Me
Hi, my name is Carolyne and I have over 40 years childcare experience. I have 4 grandsons and have cared for many more babies and young children over the years.
I am OFSTED registered to an Outstanding grade (twice so far). I provide a very wide range of activities and we visit many outside places of activities and interest inc; Woodlands, River Dart Country Park, Pennywell Farm, Plymouth Aquarium and the Zoo!
I work alongside a couple of close colleagues and their childminded children, which gives the children in my care a good social circle of peers and enables them to develop their PSED skills (Personal, Social and Emotional Development)
I am acutely aware of my responsibilities with regard to the Covid19 pandemic we find ourselves in at the moment, and therefore take a very serious view around keeping the children and myself as safe as possible.
Therefore, I only take the children to places where there are open spaces and few people. I avoid soft-play centres and play apparatus, choosing instead woodland areas, beaches, open grass areas and my own back garden.
My Experience
i have had 2 children of my own who in turn have given me 4 lovely grandchildren. I have worked in nurseries and pre-schools whilst completing my NVQ3 in Childcare and Education certificate.
I went on to become a Registered Childminder 20 years ago. I love this job and have managed to build my business up to an 'Outstanding' level.
However, I believe that there is always more to learn and I'm constantly striving to improve my practice and therefore my childcare provision.
I believe I have a good understanding of what is necessary for school readiness and the transition between new settings, including to my own setting...therefore I utilise my thrive experience and any information gained from parents/carers to make these transitions as smooth and happy as possible.
I have worked closely with an Autistic child and have become a certified member of the Makaton Friendly team.
I have also gained a certificate in an NPA Portage workshop.
