About Me
A friendly and experienced primary years and social sciences teacher, I have over 11 years teaching experience from KS2 - KS5. I prep KS2 students for both the AQE and GL as well as support KS1 students with literacy and numeracy development. With a teaching philosophy that seeks to holistically develop lifelong learners, through the facilitation of high quality teaching and learning, I promote active learning through a range of methodologies, helping students engage reflectively in the learning process. In these ever changing times, it is as paramount as ever to equip students with an adaptable skill set and a growth mind set to help them navigate their way in an increasingly challenging world. Through supported differentiation, I ensure tutor sessions are tailored to each individual learning style and ability.
My Experience
I have over 11 years teaching experience in both primary and post primary education. An active teacher and tutor in the Belfast area, I take time to build rapport with students, recognising the power of connection in gaining achievement and resilience. As an experienced KS2 teacher, I have excellent working knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and the requirements of both AQE and GL. I am also an experienced sociology and health and social care teacher, having taught both at A level. As an ongoing reflective practitioner, I embrace opportunities for continuing professional development. In September 2016, I completed a Masters in Education, an extremely enriching professional journey that allowed me to reflect on pedagogical practice.
