My Summary

My Experience

I’ve been involved with Girlguiding for the past 6 years and in that time I have become a fully qualified Young Leader and started my Adult Leader Qualification with my Brownie unit. My unit is from a deprived area and has a higher than average ratio of children who have additional support needs (ranging from autism to Downs Syndrome to dyslexia) which means I am incredibly adaptive and can problem solve quickly. I am also a trained Peer Educator and have delivered around 30 sessions on resilience and gender stereotypes to units with members aged anywhere between 7 and 107! On top of that, I have 2 nieces and a nephew who I am extremely close with. My nephew was born prematurely which lead me to be accidentally trained in a wide range of extra support needs such as tube feeds, at home oxygen and caring for a very fragile and vulnerable child. My 2 nieces have had a very turbulent childhood so I have often had to step up and explain some of the toughest situations in ways that are easier for children as young as 2 to be able to comprehend.

My Qualifications

Having gained my Young Leader Qualification from Girlguiding, I have started my Adult Leadership Qualification as well. Both of these require an understanding of everything from finances to admin to planning meetings and first aid training.

Achieved AAAB in Highers (Art & Design, Music, English and Human Biology) and AAAABB in National 5s (Art & Design, Music, English, Mathematics, Biology and History). Additionally, I have played clarinet for around 5 years, spending most of that time with a semi-professional concert band who played at ABRSM Grade 6 standard.
