About Me

Hi!
My name is Lorin, I’m 23 and I’m looking for a babysitting/nanny job for around 15 hours/week.

I already have a nanny job on the weekend at an amazing family, but looking for one for the weekdays as well. My full free days are Thursday and Friday, but I’m also available Monday and Tuesday afternoon after 5pm as well.
I’m a postgraduate student at Northumbria University, studying Health Psychology.

I’m cheerful, energetic, reliable and patient, and truly enjoy taking care of children and spending time with them.
I've been taking care of kids since I was fourteen, from 8 months to 12 years old.

Just as I fulfil the responsibilities, I always pay attention to include the creative and fun part of childcare, always making sure the children in my care are safe and enjoying their time.
Above all their safety and well-being is my top priority.
Besides childcare I’m happy to do some housework as well, or any additional help families need around the house. Most of my previous childcare positions included doing different tasks as well, such as cooking, doing laundry, tidying up around the house, etc.

I am originally from Hungary and came to the UK in 2020. I have a pre-settled status, therefore the right to work in the UK, and I have an NI number as well.
I can provide references if needed as well.

My Experience

In nurseries (age: 1-3) preschools: (age 3-6)
Main roles: helping the teachers around the children-i.e., helping at meal and nap times, changing nappies, taking the kids to the toilet, to wash their hands, going outside with them, going on walks, playing games, doing crafts, singing, etc.

In summer camps of preschools (age 3-6)
Main roles: same as in the preschools plus organising the games and activities in the camp.

Babysitting: (14 months-9 years old)
Taking care of the children with or without their parents being home, playing creative games, going outside, making meals, taking them to the toilet and to wash their hands, etc.
Doing housework at the families’s houses:
Cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, putting things away, looking after the animals if they had them, etc.

Volunteering in an institution for special needs children in Israel for three weeks: (age: 3-6) In 2018 I had an opportunity to volunteer in institution for children with special needs in Israel, Tel-Aviv, and I spent three weeks there.
The children there usually suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen at birth, and most of them had various developmental and physical disabilities as well. Some of them had autism, epilepsy, or were non-verbal and communicated with tablets, and so on.
Main roles: similar to the ones in the preschools, there were just more and they were more difficult. It also included feeding the children, taking them out of their wheelchair, assisting in their physiotherapy, taking them to swimming classes. As they didn’t speak English, I had to learn basic Hebrew to be able to communicate with them.

I also have a 9-year-old little sister with Down syndrome, and I often look after her, I pick her up from school, we play creative games, (e.g., she has previously started talking in lot more complex sentences, so I try to include activities that help improve her speech) do crafts, draw, cook together, go the playground or swimming. At bedtime, I help her with her bedtime routine (like bathing, brushing teeth, etc).

At the moment I look after three children at my weekend-nanny position, I have been with this family for 1.5 years now. The children are 2, 4 and 6 years old.

My Qualifications

I’ve finished high school in 2020, and I have completed my bachelors in 2023 in Psychology Bsc. I am currently doing my masters, studying Health Psychology.
I’m also first aid certified.
