My Summary

My Experience

I am lucky enough to have a very large family that I am close to which meant I have grown up around babies and young children my entire life. I have multiple younger cousins who I babysit regularly and have great relationships with.
I previously spent 3 years working as a gymnastics coach for my local club where I was responsible for a class of 30 children ranging in age from 5-12, some of which had additional support needs. I was responsible for maintaining the safety of the kids whilst ensuring they had fun throughout sessions.
In the recent summer I was a part of the Camp America program which meant I spent the last 2 months working at a childrens summer camp in America. Within this role I not only taught a range of activities and classes daily, but I lived in cabins with approx 12 children and was entirely responsible for them for the 2 week duration they were at camp.
From waking them up and getting ready for the day, to reading bedtime stories I became a ‘mother’ type figure to these kids while they were away from home. I had to deal with a lot of homesickness and emotional issues when the kids were struggling as well as some behavioural problems and I feel I learned to handle these issues well.
This experience has extended my knowledge of how to build positive relationships and work well with children of all ages.
I think my extensive experience with working with children of all ages makes me well suited to work in childcare.

My Qualifications

Although I don’t have any official qualifications in regards to childcare, I have a huge amount of experience working with children of all ages, as detailed above. I feel completely comfortable in that environment and building positive relationships with kids comes naturally to me.
I have 7 National 5, 7 Higher and 2 Advanced Higher qualifications.
