About Me

I am a professional nanny with over eight years of nanny experience, a certification in pediatric first aide, and a Bachelor’s degree in elementary* education from Michigan State University, which is ranked as the No.1 elementary education Bachelor’s degree program in the USA.

Communication, connection, and consistency are my top priorities as a nanny. For healthy emotional development a child needs to feel safe, seen, soothed, and secure by at least one caregiver, so I make it my priority to truly listen, respect, empathize with, and understand children no matter what age they are. Because children thrive with routine, I work hard to be consistent with not only daily schedules, but also with our interactions so that the child feels safe knowing how I will respond to them no matter the situation. By clearly communicating expectations, holding firm boundaries, implementing consistent daily routines, and modeling emotional regulation, children will feel safe within this predictable structure to freely explore, grow, test boundaries, and express themselves authentically.

As a caregiver who is passionate about early childhood development, specifically language and emotional development, I take it upon myself to be up to date on the latest research in these areas. Parenting advice and practices are ever changing so I am open minded to new recommendations and try to utilize aspects of multiple methods to fit a family’s individual needs. Although the techniques I use may be family specific, my core approach of being a confident leader who focuses on building an authentic, supportive, loving, and secure relationship with the child never wavers. As a leader it is my responsibility to model emotional regulation and support children by fully accepting all of their emotions. I also believe it is my responsibility to foster curiosity, confidence, exploration, independence, creativity, and problem solving skills through all forms of play, scaffolding, modeling, and connection.

As for what I believe the top priority of children should be, it is to play. I deeply believe that play is the work of children, as it allows them to explore the world, test limits, get creative, problem solve, develop motor skills, practice social skills, experience a full range of emotions, and so much more. Play isn't just fun, it is how children learn. My favorite way to encourage play is to go outdoors, which is why I make it a daily priority to spend time outside. Playing outdoors provides opportunities to slow down and fully observe your surroundings, it supports physical development, encourages sensory and pretend play, and it is beneficial to mental health.

Outside of being a nanny I also love to spend time outdoors and play, whether it be through hiking, running, climbing, skateboarding, weightlifting, or swimming. If I am not outside you can usually find me reading, listening to podcasts, cooking, or watching something funny. I absolutely love to learn as much as I can about mindfulness, self development, mental health, physical health, and emotional intelligence.

I recently relocated to Edinburgh from Bristol with my husband, and after falling in love with Edinburgh we decided to live here indefinitely. I have been a resident in the UK since May 2022 and I can prove I have the right to work in the UK.
