My Summary

My Experience

Over a period of approximately 10 years I have worked predominantly with young children. Within this environment I have been fortunate to gain a lot of practical knowledge and understanding of child behaviour and working with parents in collaborating to help develop their children from their early formative years.
As my experience has developed I have become more proficient and am able to plan activities using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) techniques.
By observing and working with children daily I have held confidential meetings with parents to show and advise them how their child is progressing and to provide continuity between their home and the early learning roles.
In time,and with my employers recognition, I have become a supervisor to less experienced staff which has enabled me to engage with staff in team meetings and to delegate actions to my staff team. I have managed nursery operations when my line managers have been absent. I am therefore able to work with a degree of autonomy as well as part of a team. I relish both.
Working in a Children’s Centre has helped me to further develop and has provided me with more skills and confidence in working with especially challenging and special needs children. This I have found to be challenging yet rewarding results indicate that efforts have made a difference to that child’s life.
My interlude working for the prison service was very different. My role was more one of administration ,including security checks, but was nevertheless an interesting insight into an environment which hitherto I had no experience.
