About Me

Hello, I am Chanel! I am 23 and living in Greenwich area. I currently work as an Inclusion and support assistant in a school. My job involves improving the mental health and wellbeing of students. I have a passion for supporting the wellbeing of young people. You will be able to see this through my various different experiences working with children; volunteering in youth groups, leading residential trips and creating resilience programmes for students in school. No matter where life takes me, I will always see myself working with young people, making a positive impact in their lives!

I love cooking! I enjoy being in the kitchen, creating new recipes, finding healthy options and cooking with kids. In previous employment, I started a cooking and baking club. Every Friday we would learn new recipes and cooking skills. cooking is a great life skill ad i love giving that opportunity to young people. Helping them to see cooking as something fun rather than a chore.

Spontaneous walks and discovering new fun places are my thing! In a world full of social media, it is so important for us to get out and adventure.

With my previous experience as a teacher assistant, I had to support in various subjects: Maths, Science, English, History etc. In order for me to support, I had to be quite flexible and understand the core parts of each topic. I am very confident in helping with homework of all ages.

My Experience

I Volunteered as a youth leader at Girl Guides for 2 years (2 hours a week). My main duties were to organise games, supervise groups cooking and leading groups on residential trips.

I worked as a teacher assistant for 2 years (full time). I was responsible for Assisting in the success of the pastoral care that the students had- feeling safe and included. working very closely with students identified with SEN and EAL through mentoring sessions and support in the class. Providing an inclusive atmosphere for all students and modifying schoolwork for less able students. Running K3 maths and reading interventions for students.

I am now an Inclusion and support assistant (full time), working with SEMH students. Creating mentor resources and providing 1:1 interventions on a weekly basis for anger management, mental health, self-esteem, and social skills. Creating care plans and pupil passports for teachers.
