About Me
I was born in Cuba and lived there until I was 12 years old, moving to Glasgow at that age and learning the language was a great challenge. I quickly immersed myself in the language and culture and Glasgow has truly become my home. I am now fluent in both English and Spanish. I began caring for children at age 16, often looking after my neighbour's little one when they were going out. After high school I did a course on Complementary Therapies, followed by a few years of Open University and an apprenticeship in Social Services, Children and Young people. This allowed me to train and work in a nursery for a couple of years before I decided to focus my energy on private nannying. I preferred the ability to have more autonomy over my own time and to really focus and develop a strong relationship with each family I worked with.
My Experience
I got my qualification while working at a nursery in 2018, then I decided to work as a private nanny and I have been doing that ever since.
As a childcare provider I understand the responsibility that is looking after someone else's child, therefor my main priorities are ensuring the safety and appropriate development of a child. When I work, I see myself as an extension of the primary caretakers, adhering to their desired way of bringing up the child and doing everything I can to help make the parents life a little easier, specially with a new-born. This is achieved through great report and regular communication with the parents about routine, safety, discipline, rules, fun and all the other things that are involved in looking after children.
Time keeping and routine are very important to ensure the kids feel safe with me and they know what is happening throughout the day. Consistency creates trust &
comfort. I love spending time outdoors with the little ones and doing fun activities
that inspire their creativity and imagination. I believe each child has their own
unique path and way of understanding the world, my job is to encourage that they're able to explore the world around them in a safe and exciting way. I allow them to lead with their needs and interests whilst keeping boundaries of safety.
