About Me

As having previously worked in a school environment with minors, I understand the sensitive nature of working around children and the level of care which is required regarding this level of responsibility. During my time as a cleaner at Lane Green school I had to maintain awareness of the safety of children at all times especially around harsh cleaning chemicals and equipment. Although duties were for cleaning, I was still in a position of responsibility which I upheld well.

My Experience

I have been a regular volunteer in my local church and community centre in which I carried out a variety of different assignments, such as stocking up the communal food bank which provided many essentials to a lot of families in the locality, to delivering educational programmes to pre-school children as frequently as 2/3 times a week. I also partook in catering for an adult lunch club on a weekly basis. Initially I began volunteering to use up my spare time wisely in 2019, but really felt the need to continue my duties within the community centre up until 2022. I became an essential part of the very small team to meet demands of continuing to provide support to the community, and generally speaking, I really enjoyed being there as it was personally rewarding and I enjoyed helping. At home, I have a fairly large family with all of my siblings being younger than me, and I carry out care duties in terms of ensuring they are fed, putting them to sleep on time and making sure they get ready for school and all other big sister duties. In particular, I have a younger brother who requires special care and attention as he has down syndrome, he requires round the clock care, in which my mother cares for him when I am away from home and I take over when I return home, this is particualry challenging as communicating with him is fairly difficult as he cannot speak, so when he isn’t well, I need to assess him and ensure the correct care is given. This is another way in which I believe my experience is extremely relevant to the job requirements as caring for children is a part of my daily life, and it will only improve my ability to successfully carry out the tasks within a school.
