Hi, I’m Libby and I grew up in the Cheshire/South Manchester area before moving to Bristol nearly 3 years ago to start my Music Degree at the University of Bristol. I have one older sister, and two cute dogs who I love taking on walks in the countryside. My biggest hobbies are baking (especially making cookies, brownies, and cakes) and playing the cello and piano, which is why I think I’m quite lucky to be doing a Music Degree! I’m nearly at the end of my degree, so with the experience I’ve gained from working as an Intern Assistant Programme Manager at Bristol Pre-Conservatoire since September 2022, I’m beginning to apply to Artist Administration roles for orchestras and music organisations, for a graduate job.
My Experience
I worked at Alderley Edge Community Primary School in both the After-School Club and Holiday Club initially as a volunteer (for just less than one year) as part of the 'volunteering' section of my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award, and then as an employed Play Worker for 4-5 years. In term times I worked for 6 hours per week (but often working more shifts where required). In holiday time, I worked about 20-30 hours per week (7:30am-6pm days). In both term time and holiday time, I was caring for children between the ages of 4 and 11 years old and planning, running and managing activities for them. These activities included arts & crafts, sports, baking, reading, board games, and gardening. Another main responsibility was making a simple snack for the children in the afternoon, which generally was either toast, crumpets, or sandwiches. I also held cleaning responsibilities, including sanitising and wiping all surfaces, cleaning the toilets, and hoovering/mopping to ensure the upkeep and cleanliness of the building. Through my work at the Primary School, I was contacted by parents/guardians to babysit for their children in their home environment. These babysitting duties were for children between the ages of 6 and 10. As these babysitting duties were all in the evening, my main responsibilities included playing games with the children and helping them get ready and into bed. I also occasionally helped children with their homework when required. At Bristol Pre-Conservatoire (a music evening school in Bristol), I am a point of contact for the students, who are between the ages of 11 and 18. I care for their welfare by helping them to work through any queries they have and being wholly responsible for applying for and delivering all staff DBS checks to ensure student safety, with the main goal of supporting their musical development at Pre-Con.

GCSE qualifications - 3 grade 9s (English Literature, Geography, Combined Science), 4 grade 8s (Combined Science, Music, German, History), and 2 grade 7s (Maths and English Language)
