Hello, I am Brooke.
I am based in the Lake District National Park, I hold a DBS, Emergency First Aid certificate, Full Drivers Licence and a qualified Geography teacher with knowledge in other humanities subjects such as RE and History.
I am an outdoor and animal enthusiast, spending a lot of time enjoying nature. People describe me as confident, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
My Experience
As a Geography teacher I am responsible for children learning to hit their personal academic goals. I confidently adapt work for students who struggle academically because of many reasons such as for engagement, adapting behaviour thought processing, SEND and dyslexia. I believe it is important that all students should have an equal chance of success. Before teaching I worked as a teaching assistant which has given me the opportunity to work with students diagnosed with SEN. This has given me the confidence to adapt and over come the traditional teaching methods by changing worksheets or presenting information in a way that suits the individuals need.
Over the years I have volunteered with primary school groups at local outdoor education centres developing interpersonal skills, such as communication, team building, active listening and engaging. On residentials I have been responsible for the wellbeing of staff and students in an event of an emergency. Moreover, keeping children supervised and occupied with games, stories and interactive tasks.
