About Me

I am a fun, lighthearted person. I am passionate about delivering quality services to improve the lives of the people I interact with. I am happy to work around the Bristol, Bath and North Wales area.

My Experience

I have worked in a variety of roles in an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) environment with children with Autism, which I have detailed below.

From October 2020 to present, I have worked full time as a Lead ABA Therapist for a private family. Supporting a pre-verbal,13-year-old boy with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), on a 1:1 and 2:1 basis, under the supervision of multiple Board Certified Behavior Analysists (BCBAs). It is a home-based program, which between October 2020 and June 2021 was partially school-based. Building on my previous roles, my responsibilities now also include creating and maintaining data collection systems, implementing precision teaching methods for motor skills, talk tools, teaching the use of an Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) system, staff education, targeting functional skills, and providing support during a variety of leisure/sporting activities. Further to this, I liaise with the family to ensure target programs are functional and worthwhile, and to support family engagement with the learner, both for academic targets and leisure activities. Additional roles include assisting the learner on holidays abroad and for a variety of medical/wellness appointments such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Since October 2022 I have taken on a supervisory role of a trainee behaviour therapist.

From October 2019 to November 2020, I worked as a 1:1 ABA Therapist with a 4-year-old girl with ASD, on a home-based ABA programme. I also worked with a 10-year-old boy with ASD on a combined school and home-based programme, under the supervision of a BCBA. These roles included structuring sessions, utilising discrete trial training (DTT), focusing on pairing, manding, tacting and verbal requests. I used Catalyst, an online data collection system, to take data during the sessions. I also assisted the BCBA with conducting ongoing VB-MAPP assessments.

In 2019, alongside undergraduate study, I volunteered for 12 hours a week in the University of South Wales Behaviour Analysis Clinic as an Assistant ABA Therapist. I completed the Level 2 task list and began Level 3, which involved: assisting the Lead ABA Therapist with prompting, leading play-based activities, creating manding opportunities, using Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS), summarising and graphing data, conducting preference assessments, using naturalistic teaching procedures, preparing data sheets for sessions, and supporting the Clinic Assistants.

In 2017, also alongside undergraduate study, at the same clinic I volunteered for 5 hours a week with children under 6 with ASD and other communication delays as a Clinic Assistant. I completed the Level 1 task list, gaining experience collecting and summarising data, preparing for sessions and assisting with breaks and clerical duties.

My Qualifications

I am currently studying a MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis. In 2020, I graduated from University of South Wales and was awarded a 2.1 in BSc Childhood Development. During my time there, I followed the Behaviour Analysis optional route, and a Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) approved 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician training course was covered during my third year.
