My Experience

I am a hard-working individual, whose passion for childcare has significantly influenced my chosen career path.

Over the last nineteen years, I have worked in a number of childcare related roles (teaching assistant, nursery nurse and private nanny) and during this time I have been responsible for ensuring a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children. I’ve actively encouraged the children’s confidence, self-esteem and independence and have also recognised the importance of establishing and maintaining good relationships with parents/carers

My Qualifications

GNVQ Level 2 in childcare & Education. I have worked in a variety of roles within the childcare sector for the past twenty years including working in a school, nursery & as a private nanny. I started my career in childcare at St James Infant School where I worked & studied for two years to complete my level 2 in childcare & education. During this time I worked with a variety of age ranges within the school including the schools nursery & worked with individuals, groups of children & occasionally the whole class. I was involved with a range of activities including, reading, language activities, artwork, P.E, maths, science, music, IT & food & technology. I was also involved in playground duties, attending to the children’s personal & social skills & I took part in training courses. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school & have many fond memories.
During my twenty years in childcare, I also worked in several nurseries including a nursery in Bath where I worked as a room co-ordinator for 1-2 year olds. My duties included planning educational activities in accordance with the early years curriculum, taking care of the children’s personal needs, supervising the children & ensuring their safety, keeping records up to date, recording accidents & illnesses, liaising with parents & carers, preparing meals & snacks & working as part of a team. I really enjoyed my time at the nursery & worked with a wonderful team who I am still in touch with many years later.
