About Me
When I was younger, I had a nanny that I trusted hugely and created many brilliant memories for me and I am still in contact with to this day. I would love to create that same experience for another child.
I have always been a people person - I was always keen to make friends and speak to people from an extremely young age. I love socialising with friends, whether it's meeting up for coffee, going to the cinema, to the park or going out and taking photos. Whatever it is, I'm keen!
I pride myself on how I can form meaningful relationships with all children I work with and support. This is the foundation to all I do.
My Experience
As mentioned above, I began my experience by volunteering in primary schools. It was excellent to see the different styles of teaching and how the children responded to them. It was also interesting to see how the children’s styles of learning were supported. From this, I became a PSA and then chose to pursue the postgraduate degree in primary teaching at the University of Strathclyde.
I have also volunteered at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh with school aged children who came to the Gardens on school trips including treasure hunts, cooking and themed tours.
As a Pupil Support Assistant, I was responsible for supporting the class teacher either in whole class activities or small groups. I also provide one on one support for children with additional support needs.
As well as this, from August 2018-August 2018, I was a childminder for a 3 year old. I look after her after nursery - helping with dinner and facilitating play. I also provide occasional support at night so I am comfortable with the bedtime routine.
As part of my PGDE, I have completed multiple teaching placements where I must be engaging and highly organised. I also have learnt a huge amount about childrens needs and behaviour.
I am now a fully qualified primary teacher.
My Qualifications
In 2020, I obtained a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in Primary Teaching. In 2016, I graduated with a 2:1 MA (Hons) History and International Relations. I also have a full PVG and am fully registered with the General Teaching Council Scotland.
