About Me
My name is Jade Edwards and I'm 33. I studied childcare and education at college for 2 years and have a degree in primary education for KS2. I worked in a local Primary school for 6 years and after having my second (October 2018) have decided to have a break from teaching until I can return full time. I have a lovely daughter called Isla who is 3 years old who goes to nursery three days a week and a 1 year old son (Felix) who isn't currently in childcare. I enjoy taking trips outdoors, going on puddle hunts, collecting bits of nature for art and craft projects and believe children should have 'fresh air' (weather permitted) for at least an hour a day. I also love getting children involved in a variety of art activities using different mediums and believe it's important for them to have the chance to be creative and to express themselves. I enjoy cooking and baking and teaching children about healthy eating that is both tasty and fun!
My Experience
I have worked in nurseries for both experience and part time work. I have had experience of working with children in years 3-6 and was head of year 3 for a year.
I have worked as a nanny on many occasions; I started working with a family of twins in 2012 for 3 days a week for 6 weeks. Since then I have worked with three other families each with two children. During 2017 I also had my daughter along with me when working as a nanny. I would honestly say that both families benefited from this, my daughter developed her social skills and actually took some of her first steps at the family's house with lots of encouragement from the two older children. I cannot speak for the family or children at the time but they looked forward to seeing Isla each morning and to our adventures at their home and out and about together; being lovely role models and showing patience and kindness (especially when sharing toys!).
On many occasions I have worked as a babysitter for these families and tutored their children (for literacy and maths) and tutored children I have taught.
My Qualifications
I have a level 3 CACHE diploma in childcare and education. I have a degree in Primary education. I also have a recent CRB check and worked as a primary school teacher for 6 years.
My Availability
I am currently available most week days depending on your family's needs. I would have my 9 month old every day and my toddler Mondays and Tuesdays. As a class teacher I have experience with organising trips for 90+ children and being responsible for taking them off the school grounds and returning them safely!
I also hold a clean full UK drivers license and have my own 7 seat car. I have my own house in Dorking, pet free with a garden.
