I am a versatile, caring and hard-working childcare professional with a practical hands-on approach, who always perseveres to achieve the best results. I feel I am able to work confidently on my own initiative to provide the best care and opportunities for the child(ren) in my care. I am patient, fun-loving and have lots of love to give.
I am committed to personal development to further extend my knowledge of children and their development. Children are my passion. Seeing them learn, helping them learn, and hearing them laugh as they undertake the experiences being offered to them makes my role enormously rewarding.
I am an active member of the Scout Association, running a Scout Group and the local Scout and Guide Gang Show. I have been performing in the theatre since I was seven and have continued this passion into adulthood. Theatre and music play a large role in my life. I love to sing, play and teach the many instruments which I have collected over the years.
My Experience
I have 25 years experience of working with children and young people from birth-19 years. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant for approximately 15 years alongside being a Family Nanny, Playworker, Party Co-ordinator and Nursery/Creche Assistant, running a local after school club and holiday playschemes.
I have also been a warranted leader within the Scout Association during this time, taking on roles throughout all sections of the movement (6yrs old-18 yrs)
During my childcare career I have undertaken many courses including a foundation certificate in Makaton, water and sports training, food hygiene certificates and many child protection awards. My varied training, job roles and voluntary positions including those supporting children with physical and learning difficulties, have given me the opportunity to develop my skills and extend my knowledge base as a childcare professional.
I have been involved with children and their parents, carers and support workers in numerous diffferent settings ranging from local primary schools and nurseries to temporary creches and playschemes at Scout jamborees. I feel that these experiences have provided me with the abilty to communicate confidently and effiectively with children, parents, co-workers and professionals.
My Qualifications
I do not have any formal childcare qualifications but during my various careers within childcare I have taken courses in Behaviour Management, Child Protection and Safeguarding, Makaton, Play and the Disabled Child, Paediatric First Aid and many more.
I also have a BA (Hons) in Music Performance.
My Availability
I am available for babysitting most evenings and weekends subject to prior commitments. I am able to be flexible on times and dates.
Availability for nanny roles would be dependant on my current job and notice period.
