About Me
I am married with 3 children who are now grown up and working and living independently. I have many hobbies including knitting traditional Aran throws for friends. I love reading and researching areas of History and English. I am passionate about my teaching and believe that I have the patience and understanding to help my students achieve. I also love my subject matter and enjoy inspiring other to share my passion for both literature and History.
My Experience
I have been teaching for over 25 years in various educational establishments. I spent 14 years teaching in an FE environment, where I held the position of Senior Tutor and head of History, teaching History to A level. For the last 10 years I have been involved in teaching 1:1 English to help raise achievement levels and currently work in a number of Academy's, mainly working with looked after children. I also teach at an academy in Maidstone working with small groups of year 11 English students, to help raise grade levels. I also have a number of private students and currently teach all 4 exam boards for GCSE English 1-9 and also History and English A level. More recently I have also been involved in teaching English as a second language to a number of individuals from various countries, both privately and within a secondary environment.
