My Experience

November 2022 – Current
Caring for two children aged 7 & 9. During term time I ensure that the children are taken to school on time, then run errands for them throughout the day as well as laundry, cooking nutritional meals and I also walk the family dog. In the school holidays I am there to care for the children throughout the day, completing the above tasks as well as providing the children with fun days out such as swimming, trampolining, or playdates. Then also helping with school projects and homework.

September 2019 – 2022 but still adhoc
Working with two children aged 5 & 7 however 2 & 4 when I started. My role Is to ensure the children are happy and well
cared for. Planning fun days with them in the local area and in London where they are happy to explore and learn. Along with this we also attend swim classes, playdates, I also organised
a Halloween party for them. Due to the pandemic we have spent much time at home, our time
has been spent learning to cook, craft, sew, do science experiments and home schooling too.
It is also my duty to ensure the upkeep of their laundry, uniform labelling and cooking for the
family too, along with doctor, dentist and other appointments needed.

April 2019 – Current
This role started as an adhoc role which has now turned 3 days a week, I care for two boys aged 5 & 3. Starting with one child and transitioning into two in December 2019 so aged 2 & Newborn when I started. My
role is to give the boys happy fun filled days with trips to farms, playgrounds, libraries and
more. We also spend time home doing crafts, water play, and cooking too. I run errands for
the family, and do child related home jobs such as build nursery furniture or such items when
needed. The older boy has nut & egg allergies, my first experience with allergies which
means I have been able to attend his testing appointments multiple times along with ensuring
he lives in a safe environment, with home cooked meals and extra precautions when we take
trips out.
The pandemic has meant we are all working closely together to ensure we are all healthy and
happy within the guidelines, meaning I took a period of time away from the family to keep us
all safe. In this time I did multiple weekly online learning sessions with the oldest to keep our
relationship strong and to help aid him for his transition back into school.

June 2017 – September 2019 but still adhoc for babysitting
I was a sole charge nanny in a share to four children aged 1,2, 6 and 6 over two years, the role adapted and changed over the course of the two years as the children grew. Organisation was key to this role with 3 of children at different schools, along with different extra-curricular activities. I would participate in swim lessons, playgroups, playdates and trips into the city to museums/events, also organising parties for the children too. Keeping a varied
two week meal rota for them all was essential too, maintaining healthy diets. This role also included doctor, dentists & hospital appointments along with general errands such as shoe fittings and hair cuts.

September 2016-June 2017
I nannied two lovely girls aged 2 & 5. My daily duties were to take care of the girls from mid-day until late evening; this included school pickups, after school activities, homework, cooking multiple meals and snacks as well as bath and the start of bedtime. I also did duties of laundry, tiding and cleaning up after the girls. During school holidays I prepared lots of activities and days out with other children too such as swimming, playgrounds,
museums, arts & crafts and other seasonal activities in the city such as fairs and events.

December 2011 - June 2013 Au Pair San Francisco
I was working as an Au Pair for a family with two active young boys aged 5 and 7 but 3 & 5 when I started. I lived with the family, so they treated me as a daughter and co-parent but a employee at the same time. It’s a very unusual relationship but we made it work amazingly. My main role was to take care of the boys well being. I took them to activities and school. I also did their laundry, cooked for them, cleaned for them, and played with them. I was here as a third parent but also big sister to support the boys in their life. This role was also part proxy parent.

July - August 2011 Sumer Camp
I joined a team of around 4-5 adults supervising 20 children in the afternoons to help out with games and activities. We played games such as hockey, rounder’s and football. We also had fun swimming and having water fights in the hot weather. I had so much fun spending time with these children as English wasn’t their first language so it was a great challenge teaching them how to communicate in English and develope their language skills to a greater level.

April / August 2011 Voluntary Work
I have done two weeks voluntary work for a charity called Over The Wall. It was two single week residential camps, for children affected by serious and life limiting illnesses. It was a life changing experience the children, as they gained valuable friendships and overcome fears as well as returning home with a renewed sense of confidence and self-belief, which I hope I helped them achieve by being there for them at camp. My role at camp was a team mate, which meant I was in a team of 7 volunteers caring for 7 young girls aged 8-10 years then also a team of 11 volunteers caring for 7 boys aged 10-12. During the weeks my team and I were in sole charge of the children; this involved waking them up, making sure they were ready for the day’s activities, supervising them on their activities, taking them to meals, making sure they got to bed and overall pastoral care.
