My Summary
About Me
I became a Registered Childminder in 1989 and have built my business up over the years and am now running a successful, enjoyable and rewarding childcare facility.
In September 2017 my husband Phil became my full-time Ofsted Registered Assistant adding another, very positive dimension to our setting.
We have been married since December 1981 and have 3 grown up children, one of whom lives at home.
We have a dog, a cockerpoo, called Henry, who was born on 13th September 2013. He doesn't moult, very handy if you have allergies, and is very good with children. He has his own space away from the children, so I choose when they get to play together, and he is never left unsupervised with the children, for the children's and his own safety!
Our aim is for the children to be safe, feel secure, have fun and learn and progress, in a loving, caring, stimulating environment.
My Experience
We pride ourselves on providing a safe, loving, caring and happy environment for the children, which combines teaching good manners and consideration for others with praise, encouragement and instilling feelings of self worth and confidence.
We provide a varied range of activities all of which cover the Early Years Foundation Stage. These include painting, drawing, gluing, cake making and decorating, model making, garden activities, story time, music and lots more. We also have a very large and varied selection of indoor and outdoor toys, including a playhouse, which the children often use as their 'den'. We also visit parks, paddling pools, friends, childminder and toddler groups and take trips out and about in the holidays.
We have produced planning documents for the EYFS but generally prefer the children to choose their own activities. We share information, photo's and videos via WhatsApp with the parents and give them regular updates of what their children have been doing and passing on any information we deem necessary. It's important to keep parents informed and up to date with what their children are doing whilst providing a permanent record of their child's day and WhatsApp is a quick, easy and safe way of doing this. We closely monitor each child so we can determine where they are developmentally allowing us to gauge what next steps we need to put in place to help them to move forward. This enables any potential problems to be identified and rectified as early as possible, trying to ensure the child doesn't fall behind. This also allows us to spot when children are ahead of their expected developmental age and ensures we provide activities which can keep them interested and challenge them and help them achieve their full potential.
The children spend a lot of their day having 'free play', choosing their own entertainment which has been shown to be beneficial, allowing them to develop at their own pace, but we also provide structured, adult led activities when necessary to enhance their learning and development.
Our setting is inclusive, allowing children of all ages, abilities and ethnicity to participate.
My Qualifications
I obtained a strong 'GOOD' Ofsted inspection report (Inspector used the word 'strong'!)
I have an NVQ3 in Childcare, Learning and Development. I have completed certified courses in the following: level 3 paediatric first aid, level 2 award in food safety, targeted safeguarding children training, level 4 safeguarding, risk assessment, birth to three, road safety, inclusion development programme: autistic spectrum disorder, common assessment framework, Early Years Foundation Stage, managing medicines, enriching th learning environment for under three’s: sensory play, developing skills of observation, assessment and planning for childminder’s, introduction to domestic abuse and EYFS training : introduction, 2 year summary, planning and self-evaluation.

Lesley is a fantastic childminder. She started looking after my son when he was 4months and has shown the love, care and same level of dedication to my son as I would. Her home has a real home from home. She and Phil give a lot of time to the children, really taking the time to understand each child’s interests. She has always given us nothing more than a real sense of reassurance that our son is in a great setting. He has thrived there, making friends and learning everyday. I couldn’t recommend Lesley more. She truly has a passion for children.

Thank you for such a lovely review. Phil and I love looking after your little one and he is an absolute joy. He’s cheeky, funny and absolutely adorable. Thank you so much for choosing us to look after him x
After 9 months with Lesley and Phil, we are very sad to be saying goodbye.
Our little girl joined Lesley at 10 months old. Being first time parents and going back to work full time, this was a super nervous time for us. Being responsible for picking full time childcare for your most loving and precious thing seemed overwhelming until we met Lesley.
Lesley invited us over for a viewing and we instantly knew this was the place for our little girl. We had a number of settling in sessions, at a frequency and pace we both felt comfortable with and our little girl settled in very well.
Communication has been amazing, from the very first contact, settling in sessions and throughout the duration of our time with Lesley & Phil. I received frequent pictures of what our girl has been up to which just lights up my day, and daily updates at pick up.
Within just a matter of weeks, our little girl wouldn’t have time to say goodbye to us at drop off, she would be to focused on running into Lesley’s arms then running off inside to play and have fun. As a first time mum with major mum guilt, this was the most reassuring way she could let us know that she loved being with Lesley and Phil and the other children.
We have watched our baby girl develop so much whilst being in the care of Lesley and Phil. From crawling, to walking, to first words and becoming an independent head strong little girl.
10 months later, unfortunately due to change in our personal circumstances, our time has come to say a very emotional farewell to Lesley & Phil, as we send our daughter to a local nursery.
I would like to thank Lesley for supporting me through this emotional rollercoaster of motherhood, and for always making us feel welcome and comfortable when looking after our daughter. Lesley have become a huge part of ours and our daughter life, and we are very thankful for the time put in to helping our daughter grow.

Thank you for such a lovely review. It’s been our pleasure to look after your little one and help her grow and develop into the lovely, funny, feisty little one she has become. We will really miss her and wish you all the best going forward x
My son has been with Lesley and Phil from 7 months to 2 year 6 months and sadly we have had to change his care due to relocating. As nervous first time parents selecting childcare was daunting and Lesley took the time on the phone and then in person to talk us through what we should be looking for in childcare and offered us advice for deciding what was best for our needs. On meeting them both we felt instantly relaxed by their calm and friendly manner we could tell they would nurture and care for our son like they are part of their own family.
Or nerves were soothed by having in settling in sessions, and although our son screamed and screamed when we first left him, when we started fully he settled quickly. He really enjoyed his time with Lesley and Phil and they have really helped him to develop greater social skills and independence as well as instilling manners, good behaviour and routines. Even though we have now left he still asks to go to Lesley and Phil’s house which is testament to them.
Communication is excellent and at the end of each day time is taken to update us on how our son's day had been and if there is anything we needed to know. We were also regularly updated with pictures and messages so we knew what he had been up to and felt included in his day, even when we weren't physically with him.
We have also found Lesley and Phil to be very accommodating and willing to help out with extra hours or and extra day here and there if their diary allowed. This has been invaluable to us as our family live a way away so aren't always available to help out.
Deciding to take our son to Lesley and Phil was the best decision we could have made and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was our pleasure to look after O and to see him grow and develop into a walking, talking happy independent little person. We shall miss him and wish you all the best in your new home x
The time has finally come for us to leave Lesley’s setting for our childcare after my 2 children being with her for the past 6 years.
When choosing a childminder I was particularly worried about my son, who was very clingy as a toddler. He immediately became at ease with Lesley and Phil and formed a bond straight away. When working full time, it was so imprortant to me to have a reliable, happy household to leave my children with each day - dropping them off was easy!
It was also lovely to receive photos of my kids regularly to see what they were getting up to.
I particularly liked how they were treated as part of Lesley’s extended family, by all family members, and there were plenty of children of all ages to play with!
It was also an added bonus of Phil being a part of the childminding as that was beneficial in adding a different dynamic to the childcare.
My son has a few additional medical needs and I felt reassured that he had good care to support and tend to these. He was monitored closely and Lesley would keep me updated with any concerns.
Overall I would highly recommend Lesley (and Phil). Although we’ve just left her setting officially, I will always still give her a call should I need any ad hoc childcare and I know she’ll be there for us too whenever we should need her.
A testimony to Lesley is the fact that even though we’ve technically left her setting, when my children see both her and Phil, they still immediately run to them - just to give them a hug and say hello!

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. It’s been an absolute honour to look after K&J, they just made it so easy. It’s always sad when children get to an age when they move on but still being able to see them and getting hugs is definitely a bonus. If there’s ever a time you need help with childcare you know we’ll always be here for them. Thanks again x
Lesley’s setting provides a lovely family environment with lots of children. Children are encouraged to develop through play, they are well looked after in a clean and balanced environment. Highly recommended.
