St Anthony's Catholic Primary School, A Voluntary Academy

One of the reasons we chose this school is because it has smaller numbers than the average primary school in the area. It allows both your child and you as parents to feel part of a community and feel strongly connected to the school. My little boy was well supported by the staff to settle into reception and into the school as a whole. They also have a 'buddy' system which means an older child gets to know your little one and helps them settle into school. My son is coming on leaps and bounds. He enjoys what they learn about in class reciting songs and stories at home!) and enjoys the homework which is set (which feels an appropriate amount and level at this moment in time).The school perhaps doesn't have the same extensive resources as some of the bigger schools in the area however I don't this limits them in any way as they are creative with what they have.
The only slight negative for us is that there are no regular afterschool clubs. However due to getting to know some other parents relatively quickly we are making plans to look into extra curricular activities that the children can attend together.
