About Me
Hi I am Sarah and I have been a registered childminder since 1985 . I am a grandmother to 4 adorable grandchildren. I own Spencer Bear Childcare which is an Ofsted Registered Childminding setting that is registered to care for up to 12 children. my most recent Ofsted Inspection was on 14th August 2015 and I achieved Ofsted OUTSTANDING in all areas I also achieved , Ofsted OUTSTANDING at my previous inspection on 10th August 2012 As a member of the Professional Association of Childcare and Early Years I work to the PACEY Quality Standards as well as the Early Years Foundation Stage and the Ofsted requirements for registration on the Childcare register.
I deliver the FREE 2 year funded places for children eligible to receive the 2 year funding and the Free for 3 & 4 year Nursery Education Funding. I accept all employer childcare vouchers and we are registered with HMRC to receive payments via Tax Free Childcare
We are situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in the picturesque medieval market town of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire.. At Spencer Bears we pride ourselves in working to high quality standards delivering flexible childcare in a home environment by qualified, experienced dedicated staff who are committed to working with you to ensure all your children's individual needs are met ensuring they learn through play and having fun. All children are introduced to Spencer Bear when they join us and he likes to come and spend some time with you at your home, he has been on a number of holidays with the children and would love to join you on your holiday too!
My Experience
I started my business as an individual childminder however due to an increasing waiting list for places , I then applied for planning permission and Ofsted registration for 12 children, At this point I took on 4 members of staff to support me with the running of the business to enable me to meet the demand.
I am a Mentor and Assessor for the Bristol Standards Quality Improvement scheme and I also work as an Early Years Adviser supporting Home Based Childcare settings throughout the county
I write and deliver childcare training programmes to those wishing to register as Home Based Child carers and am a qualified Business adviser and Mentor offering business support to those starting up their own childcare businesses. As you can see I like to keep busy!
All of the Spencer Bear staff team have childcare experience and have worked in nurseries, pre-schools or school, all of the staff have worked at Spencer Bear Childcare for more than 14 years
My Qualifications
I hold a number of Early Years qualifications and have completed the Institute for Learning Level 6 Diploma in Business support, Mentoring and Enterprise training. I am also a qualified Early Years Adviser and an Early Years Lecturer and deliver childcare training for a local college, to people who are registering as childminders.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly update my First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Safety training.
All Spencer Bear staff are CRB/DBS checked and hold current Early Years First Aid and Safeguarding Children certificates they are also qualified at level 3 .
My Availability
Spencer Bear Childcare is open 50 weeks of the year we are closed for one week in August and between Christmas and New Year and all Bank Holidays. We open from 8.00am to 5.00pm .Short term and long term contracts can be arranged as can school holiday places.
Hours required outside our standard opening times can be arranged upon request, we are happy to be flexible to meet your needs, whether it be for a one off session to allow you to do your Christmas shopping in peace or a more permanent arrangement.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
At Spencer Bears we are able to deliver the free funded places - (dependent on eligibility for 2 year olds) and the Free for 3 & 4 year funding and are happy to accept all types of Employer childcare vouchers and payments via HMRC Tax Free Childcare
Fee's are based on an hourly rate and these will be invoiced monthly in advance
