About Me
My name’s Katie Small, I am a Ofsted registered childminder. I am also a qualified Early Years Teacher with 8 years teaching experience within schools and nurseries.
I work with my husband Andy Small, who is my registered assistant and has a Level 3 Pacey Qualification in Home based childcare. We have two children, Dylan 7yrs old and Daisy 2yrs old.
We have a lovely family home in Staple Hill, with a wonderful family playroom and garden. We offer a warm and nurturing environment to care for your little ones in and provide a stimulating environment to support their growth and development in these crucial early years.
As well have having a structure and routine to the day within our home, with planned activities and quality play; we also go out and about on visits to various baby& toddler groups, parks, gyms, farms and many more.
My Experience
I have 8 years teaching experience within early years, I therefore have an in-depth and extensive knowledge and understanding of how children learn and development in the early years of their lives.
I left the teaching profession to find a better work life balance for my family and to have my 2nd child Daisy. I was then lucky enough to be able to be a stay at home mum to our two lovely children. Being a mum is both one of the most rewarding and challenging things I have ever done and that combined with my teaching career, has given me invaluable experience and skills that equip me well for being a childminder.

My son Luca has been going to Katie and Andy’s since November 2017. He absolutely loves going there and gets excited when he knows it’s a Katie and Andy day!
The children are provided with many different experiences whilst they are there and everyday they go somewhere like; dancing groups, gym club, the park and soft plays. Luca has learnt a lot of new skills from Katie as there is a focus on different subjects each week such as, letters and numbers.
Katie and Andy are both really welcoming and Luca is very relaxed and settled with them. He especially enjoys having Andy around to play silly games with and chase him around!
They are always available to chat about the day and fill you in on what you have missed. I feel very comfortable and at ease leaving him there, so much so that my 1yr old is starting there now too!

Katie and Andy have welcomed me and my daughter into their homely setting from the very beginning - Rosie absolutely loves going here and literally runs up the drive with excitement. The structure of the days are varied and fun filled and I have absolutely no worries or concerns. Katie and Andy are attentive and experienced carers and treat Rosie as if she was their own. Communication is fantastic with the childcare log, picture updates and the online app too! Food is always varied and the setting is clean, tidy, warm and inviting! Couldn't recommend them highly enough! :)

Our daughter has thrived at Small Treasures, she has become more confident, developed new skills and built wonderful relationships with Katie and Daisy. We couldn't ask for any more from Katie she is so well prepared, activities are creative and thoughtful. We completely trust Katie with the care of our daughter and greatly appreciate her regular communication.

My son Jacob loves going to Katie's. He is always so happy when I collect& has a great
time. I always feel very reassured& comfortable knowing he is in safe hands. Katie is always so warm& welcoming. And always has amazing things planned for the day& keeps us up to date with lots of pics.
