Truly Exceptional Childminder
We feel incredibly fortunate to have had Ylva care for our son from the time he was 8 months until 2yrs+. We are genuinely heartbroken to be leaving her as our family is relocating. She is exceptional.
Ylva strikes a rare and beautiful balance between being firm and deeply nurturing. She sets clear boundaries and gently but consistently encourages independence from a very young age. Under her guidance, our son has learned to do things for himself (take off his own shoes, coat, wash his hands etc), to be capable, and to take pride in that capability.
At the same time, she is endlessly warm, attentive, and loving. She truly understands child development—nothing she does is without purpose. Every activity is thoughtful even when it looks like simple play. Whether that’s nursery rhymes for language development when he was a baby, to carefully selecting a handful of books each week and reading them repeatedly, understanding the importance of repetition for learning. As he grew she focused on creative or skill-building activities like puzzles, drawing, painting, and early workbook exercises that support fine motor development.
One of the things we admire most is how active she is. Her instinct is always to get the children out exploring and engaging with the world—rain or shine (“no bad weather, just bad clothes!”). Outdoor play is a constant, and the children benefit enormously from it.
As first-time parents, Ylva has also been an incredible source of support for us. She has a gentle, reassuring way of guiding without ever being overbearing—offering thoughtful advice, sharing her expertise, and helping us feel more confident in our own parenting decisions. We have always felt that she is not just caring for our child, but partnering with us, and that has meant so much.
We cannot recommend Ylva highly enough. She has had such a meaningful impact on our son’s development and confidence, and we are forever indebted to her. Any family would be privileged to have her care for their child.
