My name is Frida, and I'm a qualified teacher and professional writer (fiction, digital storytelling, theatre and film) with a passion for inspiring young learners. I specialise in student-focused creative activities that facilitate increased academic performance without the "schooly" associations of traditional lessons.
I've studied writing at postgraduate level at Central Saint Martins in London (where I got my MA) and San Francisco State University in California. I have ten years experience teaching English, Drama and Writing to children in South East Asia, Spain and the UK, and college students at both my universities.
I have worked in many parts of the world and speak fluent English, Swedish and Spanish as well as good French. My broad range of interests include world literature, theatre, cinema, psychology and business strategy.
Six months as a Reading & Writing Tutor at San Francisco State University, where I received an A+ in the fantastic course "Tutoring Across Disciplines," lead by the amazing Deborah van Dommelen (Head of the Learning Assistance Center). Special focus on idea generation, essay writing and editing across a variety of subject areas. This course made me well prepared for helping your child with academic assignments including college and scholarship applications.
One year as live-in governess for two Italian boys aged 9 and 11. Main focus on English Language, Creative Writing and Drama. Continuously creative and child-centred activities made sure learning was fun and language development took place at both conscious and subconscious levels.
Six years as an English and CLIL Teacher for top schools in Vietnam, Thailand, Spain and the UK. This includes three summers working for Bede's Summer School, a British Council Centre of Excellence, where I held a residential post that came with welfare and pastoral duties as well as teaching. Bede's is dedicated to professional development and I received comprehensive, up-to-date UK safeguarding and First Aid training each year. Experienced in preparing students for Cambridge Young Learners Exams and IELTS.
I can provide excellent references from every one of my employers, as well as copies of all my qualifications.
I graduated with an MA in Dramatic Writing (Merit) from Central Saint Martins, a BA (Hons) in Media & Modern Literature (2:1) from Goldsmiths, and maintained a 4.0 GPA in Creative Writing at San Francisco State University (that's all A+). In addition to my CELTA (English teaching qualification), I have the Young Learners Extension, which specifically covers fun and motivating activities for children. I am also a published fiction writer and a produced playwright, currently employed full-time as a story writer for a mobile narrative platform (unrd.co). I'm all about letting the imagination run wild, and would love to nurture your child's acting, writing or other artistic pursuits!

Firda is fantastic with children both playful and calm . She looked after our 2 small children in our temporary home with very little toys and space and no acces to play ground, but she managed to entertain them and they had tons of fun and the children loved her company. She super easy to communicate with and had lots of ideas herself . She had no problems helping us with their rutine making sure they ate and sleept on time. We can highly recommend Frida to look after both small and older children.
