First Time Nanny Experience

Reviewed

I hired Vithuza to help with part-time childcare for my child while I work. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to several issues around reliability and communication.

We originally agreed on 3 set days per week, but she later reduced this to 2 days after taking on another family. She also failed to disclose up front that she wasn’t available during school holidays, which I only found out after hiring her. There were also last-minute cancellations and confusion around bookings, which created avoidable stress.

Ultimately, she stopped responding to my messages entirely, which left me without childcare at short notice.

While she may be a good fit for other families with more flexible needs, I would not recommend her for those requiring consistent and dependable childcare with clear communication.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, I feel it is important to clarify some points for anyone reading this review.

I only actually worked one day with this family. While we discussed and provisionally arranged various days, many of those dates never took place, so I feel the review gives the impression that there was a longer-term childcare arrangement with repeated cancellations, which was not the case.

Regarding cancellations, there were no repeated last-minute cancellations by me. In fact, there was an occasion where a scheduled shift was cancelled by the parent, and I have the messages confirming this.

There was also an occasion where I was contacted very late at night regarding a change to the following morning’s start time. I had not understood that I was expected to attend because I had not received confirmation, and the parent acknowledged at the time that the confusion was her fault.

I also did communicate my school-holiday availability and explained that I had existing childcare commitments during those periods. I accept that I could have communicated this more clearly from the beginning, and I apologised for that at the time.

I do acknowledge that there was a period where my communication was not as good as it should have been, and I take responsibility for that. However, I do not believe it is fair to portray this as a prolonged pattern of unreliable childcare when I only actually worked one day for the family.

I respect that everyone is entitled to share their experience, but I also feel it is important that prospective families have the full context when reading reviews. I have worked in childcare for many years and have had many positive experiences with families, and I remain committed to providing reliable, professional and caring childcare.
