About Me

Hello I am an Australian Registered Nurse who is looking for a short term, daily or nightly maternity nurse work during June, July and August. My husband and I will be visiting our daughter, who lives in London with her husband for an extended period from early June.
I am not looking for more than a week or two per contract, or a few days or nights per week over a month or two.

I have worked in London and surrounds previously for Eden and Maternally Yours as both a live in and urgent or booked one off maternity nurse. I will register with them again if I have nothing lined up through before our expected arrival date. I can give you contact details for references.

I have extensive new born and special needs experience. I also have limited multiples experience. I am pro breast feeding but not judgemental about personal choice. I am also very interested in supporting the establishment of a night routine for babies over 5 kg in weight, when they should be able to sleep for at least 8 hrs straight. I am very relaxed and love supporting new parents and siblings to get to know their new addition to the family. I am also not precious about the role and will muck in and do whatever you feel supports you as new parents.

If you have read this far then thank you.

As I am a registered nurse, I have a 'Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP)' which is required in Canberra when work or volunteer roles have contact with babies, children, the disabled, or the elderly - Australian equivilant to the CRB. I have a current First Aid Certificate and am a breast feeding consultant.

BTW... At no extra cost, Terry would also be happy to muck in during the day. Terry has a WWVP check also. He actually trained as a teacher decades ago :). We are hoping for example that I could do a maternity nursing role while my husband entertains himself cleaning house or if it is a multiples position then Terry would just be an extra pair of hands. He would not need to live in at all.
Below is a little about me (Margie) and Terry.

We are a couple in our fifties and sixties who have a daughter living in London and who is married to an English fellow. We love to visit them and taking a maternity nurse position or two helps us with our economics. We are looking to come for an extended period over the summer, as Terry is due to retire.
We are grandparents to three beauties and we like to travel a bit when we can. We have volunteered for Barnardos for the last 18 years as foster carers to babies, children, and young people.

My Experience

I am a registered nurse in Australia with an Irish and Australia passport. I have worked as a maternity nurse in London in the past. I have a Pediatric Certificate in addition to my Nurse training. I have worked extensively with children, including a period working in a special care nursery. I have several years experience in school health working with children with special needs. I have parented 4 children and have 5 years personal experience breast feeding them, as well as experience working with others to establish breast feeding. I will have an updated peadiatric first aide prior to my arrival in London. I have a Working with Vulnerable People Check which is necessary to be registered to work as a nurse in Australia.
Terry is a lively man who adores children. He has worked as a volunteer for the last 8 years with children and young people with a disability. He works in the Australia Public Service and could take on pretty much any role, but is just looking to be my hanger on as he is not able to work in the UK- though we could apply. Terry has top secret security clearance in his role in the Public Service and has a Working with Vulnerable People Check for his volunteering role.

My Qualifications

Australian Registered Nurse with Paediatric cert and special needs experience.

My Availability

I would be available for bookings from June through to end of August on either a part time or full time basis. We would prefer live in but can do daily if close to our daughter in Balham.
