We are Rosie and Nicola and we run Little Hoots Childminding, based in Walton, Wakefield running our childcare service from Rosie's own home. We can care for children from birth upwards.
Between us we have over twenty five years experience in Primary Education as a class teacher, specialising in Early Years, nannying, working as an au pair and nursery manager. We decided to use our knowledge, skills and experience to create a home from home environment for a small number of children to be nurtured and educated in close partnership with parents and other settings.
We have undertaken training and qualifications specifically for Childminders including Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, Food Safety and Allergy Awareness and Business and Marketing. We hold full DBS checks and this includes members of the family. We are undertaking training in 2018 to become Forest School leaders and providers.
We hold public liability insurance and policies and procedures are in place to ensure the best possible care and communication between ourselves, you as the parents/carers customers and your child.
We both hold a full clean driving license and have a seven seater car to allow trips to enhance your child's experience with Little Hoots. We are currently members of the National Trust.
Little Hoots is situated in a quiet cul de sac in Walton. We have a large detached house with a secure, enclosed garden. We have a play room, a downstairs room (the nest) available for relaxing or napping and a large open plan kitchen and living area. The playroom is well stocked with up to date and engaging resources.
Little Hoots is also home to Rosie's husband Toby who works full time in Leeds in Human Resources for a charity and our three children, Maddie 14, Orla 7 and Rory 4. Our children attend the local primary and high school. Nicola lives in a nearby village with her partner David and their three children Ryko 10, Rubyn 7 and Ayla 2. We have two family guinea pigs who live outside and do have a great love of animals and the outdoors. Our village runs a number of different activities such as play groups and music groups which we happily attend with your permission.
We hope that when you visit you will see that Little Hoots is committed to providing the highest quality of care to you and your children.

My daughter who was only 7 months when she started has come on so well with the help of Rosie and Nicola. My little girl has progressed massively in the short time she's been there and it is so lovely to see how at home she is as well. Communication is very good and I am kept well informed daily about my child's progress. The other children who they care for are very sweet and it's so lovely to see them all get along so nicely. It's also nice to see my daughter receiving homecooked nutritous meals every day. I wouldn't want my daughter to go to anyone else apart from these two.
