Hello, My name is Shelley. I am a qualified Early Years Teacher and I run Mini Explorer's Childminding as an Ofsted Registered childminder. I currently have some spaces for under 5's during the week so if you are looking for childcare please get in touch by text or phone. My details are also on the Calderdale Authority webpage.
Our house is a home from home childcare setting in Skircoat Green, Halifax (near Calderdale hospital) with space both indoors and outdoors for your child to learn and play. I have a secure, large child friendly garden for your child to play in. We are close to local parks and schools.
At Mini Explorers it’s all about your child (M.E.). In my setting your child will have the opportunity to play, explore, learn and have fun in a caring and safe home from home environment.
In addition to caring for your child in my home I also arrange trips and visits to the local toddler groups, library and local parks so that they can explore different settings, experience new places and make new friends.
I love working with children and have decided to become a childminder to not only spend time with my own children, but to also take on a new challenge and help children progress from the early stages till school age.
My Experience
I have been working with children for over 20 years, first in day nurseries and then as an Early Years teacher, before becoming a childminder. I have experience caring and teaching children from birth to eleven years. Through working with children in the early years of life, I understand the Early Years Foundation Stage and can help your child to develop and grow in a safe and caring environment.
I have a degree in Primary Education, with a specialism in the Advanced Study of Early Years. This is in addition to completing the Home based childcare training, Safeguarding training, Paediatric first aid and Basic food hygiene My husband and I have completed a DBS check.

My Availability
Mini Explorer's childminding will be open from 8am until 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Extensions to these hours can be arranged by request. At the moment I have part time spaces and can do pick ups and drop offs from All Saints Primary . Although the table below is correct at this time, do get in touch, as spaces may become available due to children moving and attending school and nursery. Thank you

We have used Shelly’s childminding services and were happy with the childcare she offered to our two year old. She’s a warm person who we trusted to look after our little boy and felt safe living him in her care. The house is a lovely setting for a child to explore and grow. You can clearly see there has been a lot of effort put in to ensure children can excel. We found Shelly very professional to deal with and understanding of our needs. I would definitely recommend her as childminder:)
