I am a Ofsted registered Childminder.
I also offers babysitting services and live in Winton. I am a kind, friendly and caring person and offer a warm, home from home and fun environment for children to learn and grow in.
I initially trained as a dancer and will share my knowledge in dance workshops with the kids with fun music and easy movements. I then trained as a community worker and community administrator and after this took some time out to bring up my children and train to become a childminder. I have two little boys (8) and (6) who love to have other children here of all ages to bond and play with.
I have always had a passion for seeing children develop and before I became a childminder I have had over 6 years’ hands on experience looking after my own two children and numerous friend’s children which I have loved.
My husband is a secondary school art teacher and part time illustrator/graphic designer who is also in the process of becoming my assistant for school holidays. Tom is keen to share his creative skills and knowledge with children that attend the setting. He is also an amazing cook and loves to create all sorts of wonderful dishes including his speciality, healthy, home made pizza and home made breads.
Our house is smoke and pet free and cleaned to the highest standard with a level 5 environmental health rating from Salford City Council. There is a designated children's play and learning room, open plan dining area and kitchen and a lovely cosy sitting room where the children can relax.
Outdoor play is very much encouraged and I have a spacious secure garden complete with slides, play house, grass and decking area and plenty of plants to explore! We are currently in the process of building a mud kitchen and plant growing area for children to enjoy and learn from. We also have various push bikes and cars and other outdoor toys.
There are lots of exciting activities that children of all ages can take part in including, sand play, water play, sing time, painting, drawing, craft activities, phonics and number play, movement and dancing, mark making, cooking and baking, music time, dressing up and role play, reading, model making. I am happy to work with parents and children to explore what children's interests are and provide appropriate activities.
Healthy food plays a big role in my setting and I offer home made meals along with an abundance of different fruit and vegetables. I love to incorporate cooking into children's learning and encourage them to take part in cooking and baking as well as self serving and laying the table/helping to tidy up after meal time.
I am happy to cater for any special dietary requirements your child may have and I have got a Basic food hygiene level 2 certificate.
I have a great understanding of the Early years foundation (for children under the age of 5) which will help your child to develop and grow into happy confident children, in a safe and caring environment.
I love to explore the great outdoors with children and outings include local parks, stay and play sessions, libraries, The Lowry, Museum of science and industry, Manchester art gallery, Manchester museum and cinemas.
Please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or would like to arrange an informal visit to have a chat and come and have a look around.

I was recommended Sophie by a friend and I can see why . Sophie creates such a warm and inviting environment that I had no qualms about dropping off my 19 month old son for the first time. She has two lovely boys who are also just so hands on which I see as such an advantage from a developmental point of view . When I picked up my son he was having some amazing home cooked food and already on his second helping ! Really happy , thank you Sophie !
We’ve only just Sophie once so far but the kids loved her and had a great time. It was their first babysitting experience.
She came round to meet us one night prior to the booking to make sure we were all happy with each other and so the kids felt comfortable.
On our night out I felt totally comfortable and didn’t feel the need to check in. Although Sophie sent me updates.
Sophie has looked after our 3.5 year old and 10 month old a couple of times now and is really great with both of them! Extremely helpful and accommodating and reliable! Cannot say enough good things! Look forward to her services in future!
We started using Sophie last year and my little girl loves her. She is very accommodating for her allergies and includes her in everything. Sophie is also great at doing various activities, outings and keeping the children engaged and curious. She is brilliant at being flexible around my wife's shifts too. We are so happy to have found her and know she will continue to help our little girls development and keep her happy and safe.
Our son loves coming here and always talks so positively about his time spent in a brilliant setting. The house is always spotless and the care and attention he gets spending his day there is absolutely first class. Lots of socialisation with other kids and playgroups takes place and I am always sure that our little lad will come home full of enthusiasm for his day. I couldn't recommend highly enough !!
