I'm a 45 year old NNEB with over 20 years experience. I have 4 children of my own. .....3 in their 20's and a 12yr old. I've worked briefly as a nanny, as a HCA in a busy paediatric outpatient department for 5 years, was a self employed hotelier for 2years and 20 years as a teaching assistant , mainly Yr 6. During my time in the education sector I also worked in the after school link club.
I've always taken pride in the relationships that I've formed and maintained with both children and their parents. .....I think it's extremely important that this relationship is well balanced on all sides.
I would consider myself an active person, swimming 5x a week. I like to be up and about and encourage children to explore the world and it's opportunities.
I believe that every child is different, yet equal and each child should be given the opportunity, support and encouragement to reach their full potential .
I have an appropriate sense of humour, a caring nature and a natural flair with children., Currently, I do private tuition for yr 6 children but this could be tailored to suit any KS2 child who needs a little extra support and encouragement, whether to enhance their learning or simply to boost their confidence .
The majority of my career has been spent in the education sector where I've supported groups of children and individuals, adapting strategies to each individual child's needs. I've built up and maintained great relationships, not just with children but also their families. I have extensive knowledge of the curriculum and I use this knowledge and experience when I private tutor. In addition to working in the classroom I've also worked in the after school club. While in education I was Makaton trained, although I've never had much opportunity to use the language... Like any language, unless it's used daily then you do become a bit rusty.
As previously mentioned, I ran a small guest house for 2 years. This has put me in good stead for running a clean, tidy and organised home and to hold other people's homes in the same regard.
During my time as a HCA, in a paediatric clinic, I reassured children and parents through some traumatic times. I treated all information in the strictest of confidence and built up trust between myself and the patient. For some, these appointments were a one off while for others it was a regular thing but regardless of this I tried to make it a positive experience for all.
My time as a nanny was brief but I still have the glowing reference from my first nanny post in 1991. During my time I was totally devoted to the child in my care and provided a stimulating environment for him to grow.
I have an NNEB diploma having qualified in 1991. In addition to this, I am trained in Makaton sign language. I have a paediatric first aid which is soon up for renewal
Currently, Im available from 930 to 1700 hrs Mon -Fri due to before and after school nannying post but there could be some flexibility applied. Im also available for weekend care.
