Sheena tutored my son for the 11+ grammar school entry and then independent schools. Sheena's honesty was a characteristic that I appreciated greatly, especially at the early stages of our relationship. Sheena was able to give me and my son a clear sense of where he was academically, his potential and what was required for him to get there. Sheena is a very passionate teacher and she has a clear structure for all lessons, continuously building previous learning, so that my son developed incrementally. At times when my son found the learning experience challenging, Sheena was able to manage both our anxieties and this was very helpful for him to give him the motivation to continue.

Sheena always gave very clear instructions for the learning required in between her lessons. It is important for parents and the child to play their part, in order to get the most out of the tutoring experience. It would be naïve to believe that Sheena can support your child without your help. My son benefitted from Sheena pushing him appropriately and being firm. We worked well together and again this helped my son to appreciate the importance of taking his education seriously and becoming more responsible and independent. He was aware that we both believed he was capable and this helped at times if his confidence ebbed.

For the exams my son did not face any questions or concepts that he did not know. Everything that Sheena had taught him, he was able to apply in the exams. He took the learning on and applied it well. We are pleased that he has a very good offer from an independent school and I know he would not have achieved what he did without Sheena's intervention. I would recommend her highly but please be mindful that as a parent you must play your part!
