Winnie
Maternity Nurse in London
My Summary
About Me
Hello There,
Are you looking for a Sleep, Weaning or Parenting Consultant that can help you with everything related to parenting. Trouble shooting, dealing with the developmental leaps/regressions your baby and family is going through. From the start of your journey as a new parent to help you settle in and establish the right routine for you and your baby. Or longer term help as your Maternity Nurse (24hrs) or a Night Nanny. I am here to help!
My Approach
My approach is gentle, loving and with the utmost care. I believe in balance and not being too strict or too babyled. Babies thrive on the stability a routine gives and with the help of us as caregivers we can set the perfect environment for them to sleep and eat perfectly. Guiding and gently coaching them how to self settle, sleep through and eat well is skills a baby needs to learn. With someone right there next to them. Babies only way to communicate is to cry, by leaving to "cry it out" is to ignore their needs and queues and that doesn't resonate with me. Babies should be carefully listened to and find out which cry means what - by figuring out what their needs are your baby will be felt loved and catered too. I cannot promise no crying - because I don't believe in no crying, that would mean that your baby isn't allowed to communicate. Then how does it learn to express itself? Listening and creating the differentiate between cries is so comforting for parents. In the beginning everything sounds the same, so I am here to help!
About me
My name is Winnie I am a very down to earth, calm very positive bright young lady. Born and raised in the The Netherlands where I did my A Levels at a Montessori high school with focus on art & design, culture and languages. I did my foundation at the world renowned art school ArtEZ for Teacher Training in Art & Design. During my studies I worked to gain experience at a primary school in reception, year one, and at a secondary school which gave me lots of invaluable teaching experience, how to work in a team, dealing with parents and navigating the needs of a variety of children and ages. As a child I lived in France and always have been intruiged by different cultures and their customs I wanted to know more and moved abroad to London to study at the London College of Fashion where I did my BA Hons Fashion Illustration. The first day I stepped into London I got a job as a Nanny and I have worked my way to being a Parenting, Sleep & Weaning Consultant. Growing up and being taught lots of great invaluable information from my creative therapist mother about child psychology and counselling, have enabled me to get greater insights into the needs and wants and hoe to approach children in such a broad way. This sparked my interest to learn, research and develop my knowledge, I am ever learning from the people I meet therefore am always doing a new course, seminar or workshop in child development, psychology and anything related to children's welfare (sleep, nutrition, breastfeeding, allergy, ADHD etc.)
Passion & hobbies
You can either find me reading a book on my kindle, looking for new books in charity shops, drinking green tea, doing yoga, or going out into nature (preferably on a bike, I'm Dutch after all!). I love exploring new things; new parenting styles new cafe's restaurants, play centres musea. Anything new! I am highly organised with a tad of OCD cleanliness (hi Marie Kondo). Wellbeing is very important to me, I strive for a healthy balanced lifestyle by always cooking healthy foods with cheesecake for dessert!
Why I Went Into Childcare?
From a very young age I have always had a love for babies. When I was big enough to look into prams I did, without exception. I just love babies and children, all the young kids in my neighbourhood were walking after me and I was the go to person for entertainment and babysitting. I took them under my wings and the children were drawn to me. The realisation that I had a natural way with children came to me whilst studying my degree in fashion. It was something so natural I didn't think of it to be a career, something I thoroughly enjoyed doing being with babies and children watching them grow, develop into little humans is such a joy to be able to do!
Because children are like sponges taking in all the information they can, they can be vulnerable. Parenting is hard, raising children is hard. My drive and passion is to help as many parents and children to create a stress free, doubt free environment and help wherever I can in order for parents and children to thrive and excel.
I would say I am a modern day mix between Mary Poppins & Super Nanny.
Always here to help
My Experience
Through the years I have acquired lots of experience from working myself up from entertaining children in my neighbourhood, babysitting to Dutch Expat tutor, holiday nanny, part/full time Live in + Live out nannying and now as a Parenting, Sleep and Weaning Consulting, with the occasional Maternity Nurse & Night Nanny support. With 10 years of experience in London and Europe.
My goal is to help as many families as I possibly can, I am looking to study child neurodevelopment/psychology to become a parent coach. I would say I already work as a troubleshooter, parenting support, sleep coaching, weaning advice, meal planning etc.

Winnie came to join us in March 2021 and is still helping us today - I cannot recommend her enough. Winnie came to us as a calm collected individual, who set about implementing routine for our new little one. I knew that Amelia was in safe hands as soon as she arrived, everything was immaculately looked after most importantly the baby but also all the baby kit and the kitchen. The main thing we knew from the outset was that everything was taken care of for the baby and the added benefit of ensuring Mum (and Dad) were fed, rested and hydrated (not something you get with traditional maternity nannies). Winnie offers sound advice where needed but also respects how a family would like to approach things. She helped me through mastitis when I couldn't leave the bed for a couple of days and was always there when I needed her. Winnie is reliable, dependable, caring and discreet, allowing you to really appreciate those first few weeks with your baby. By the end of Winnies four weeks with us we had a great routine and a baby that was sleeping through the night. We enjoyed having Winnie so much that we have had her back to look after our girls (and us) numerous times over the last 5 months and we will call on her again when we need some extra support or some much needed rest.
The most important thing that Winnie helped us achieve was being able to look back on those new born days and reflect on how much we enjoyed them.
