DO NOT EMPLOY! Completely unreliable
We offered Hollie the after school position we advertised for. She happily accepted the job on Saturday to start on Monday. She emailed us on Monday morning saying that she had been offered another job with a higher hourly rate and longer hours. We liked her so we offered to match the offer only to see that she sent us a text at 2.22pm to say this when she was meant to pick up our sons less than an hour later. She knew perfectly that we have very limited availability with very unflexible hours.
“Hi! I am terribly sorry to do this and for the short notice but I won’t be able to continue my employment with you moving forward and will not be able to collect the boys today. I had really hoped things could work out and I had a great feeling initially but I think I need to find a role that offers more of a guarantee financially. You did a massive favour by agreeing to match my other offer but my last role used to cover all holiday on a half pay basis and obviously with my outgoings remaining the same each month I need the same income each month. I hope you understand and I wish you the best.”
This is as far as I am concerned highly unacceptable especially for a supposedly childcare professional and qualified teacher. I would certainly not recommend her at all.
