I have worked in nursery’s and schools for over 10 years. I started as a teaching assistant for 2 years in a primary school, working in early years. I then moved on to become a Nursery Nurse in a nursery in the same school for almost 3 years. I was then offered the position of a HLTA (higher level teaching assistant), I did this for almost 2 years. At the same time, I took on further studies, which lead me to become a behaviour specialist. I have been in this position for almost 4 years, and although it is extremely rewarding, I know I have more to offer. This lead me go back to university. I am now in my second year of a criminology and youth studies undergraduate degree. Once I graduate, I will then go on to study further to become a child psychologist.
I have recently moved to Yorkshire with my partner as part of my studies, and I would love to continue a career in childcare, while I finish my studies. Caring and supporting children in their growth and development is extremely important to me. I have been able to make many strong and meaningful connections with children over the years, having a positive impact on both their learning and personal development.
I have extensive experience in working with children from ages 2-11. I have been in this position for almost 4 years. This position has been the most challenging but rewarding by far. The job entails supporting children with some of the most extreme behavioural and emotional needs I have ever seen. It includes helping them to access the school curriculum, while still receiving the emotional support they may require. This experience has lead me to believe that I have the necessary skills required to deal with almost any child.
