I’m a Qualified Teacher of 12 years having just ended my career and now working as a Building Surveyor.
I taught in secondary schools across Greenwich Lewisham Bexley and Bromley and although I have transitioned to a new career I still have a passion for education.
I got into teaching in my twenties teaching English to speakers of other languages, specifically to Spanish and Portuguese speakers.
I have worked in behavioural management for SEN departments before teaching ICT and then a full spectrum of Art Design Technology and Food Tech / Hospitality & Catering at KS3 & KS4.
I ended my career as a full-time teacher delivering Product Design at A-level & Construction at Diploma level 3 & 4.
I've been told my lessons are inspirational and interesting. I just love to teach and make the subjects I teach fun and relevant.
My Experience
I have previously run programs alongside Ravensboune university within key feeder schools teaching Art & Design as well as Design & Technology professionally for 8 years.
I have a 98% classroom success rate of students passing with A-C at GCSE’s and 100% success rate at A-level and Diploma levels.
I develop classes / tutoring sessions tailored to the students learning style to get the best out of them.
I have lived my subjects through their full cycle through studying, work in the industry, teaching and then developing resource material for students.
Having written digital curricula for private schools in the UK and developed teaching aids and study material for design technology for British international schools overseas I help schools effectively teach and utilise resources for subjects that I am passionate about.
I have taught and assessed design technology teachers as well as helped schools broaden the scope of how the national curriculum is delivered in-house and across the 3 boroughs I work with.
I have personally delivered STEM & STEAM classes as after school activities and run private tuition groups and 1-to-1 sessions for GCSE, A-level and Foundation students across the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Outside of the classroom, parents have commissioned me to review and critique their child’s portfolio before submission for higher education within the field of Art and Design.
I give careers advice for the construction industry and guidance for apprenticeships, as well as careers advice for the Art Design and Technology industries
I offer guidance and help with design-based portfolio management and critically review university applications with portfolio submissions.
I try to make my structured tutor sessions as fun and as engaging as possible bringing the subjects I teach to life as well as giving the student a good idea of what a career in the industry is really like.
