As a Birth Doula I offer continuity of care through pregnancy, birth and postnatally. Services include two antenatal sessions, usually from 28 weeks, being on 24 hour call for 4 weeks around the due date, providing birth support as needed and a post-birth visit. The antenatal sessions are tailored to you, and we will cover topics such as birth preferences, planning and baby feeding.
You are completely able to birth your baby in the way best for you. My aim is to support you wherever necessary to make sure that you always look back on your birth experience as a positive one. This results in a positive relationship with your baby which in turn influences both of your lives as well as the rest of the family.
This support is individual but here are a few examples of what my role might include:
– communicating with midwife/obstetrician/family/partner to ensure your wishes are being followed
– being a practical support as a runner on the day
– supporting your partner
– creating and maintaining a safe space for you to birth your baby
As a postnatal Doula, I tailor my services to the mother and family providing non-judgemental, meaningful support as necessary, no task is too big or small. This can include but is not limited to: baby feeding support, attending medical appointments, errands, light housework, moral support, cooking, shopping, spending time with older siblings, preparing bottles, and helping with new baby. I am also available as a night time Doula. You can feel relaxed and secure in knowing things are “being looked after” while I’m around!
Limited 2019 availability for Birth Doula services – please contact me with your due date. I have some flexibility for Postnatal Doula services.
I am currently based in North-West London and am able to support women in London, Herts, Beds, Bucks, Surrey as well as near the M25. I am also able to travel nationally and internationally as required.
I was inspired to become a Doula when supporting a friend through her pregnancy, birth and postnatally in 2016, which was an incredibly rewarding experience and a real honour.
I embarked on my Doula UK training with Birthbliss Academy in November 2017 with Kicki Hansard, and attended the Paramana Doula Course in October 2018 with natural birth advocate Liliana Lammers and renowned obstetrician Michel Odent. I completed training in January 2018 in order to support the charity Maternity Mates with Women’s Health and Family Services. I also work with Neighbourhood Doulas, a charity based in West London who provide on going training and support.
I have experience in supporting families with natural birth, caesarean birth, pre-term birth, breastfeeding, obstetric cholestasis, SPD, bottle feeding, twins, and the first twelve weeks with a newborn. Hospitals I’ve worked at include St Mary’s Paddington, The Royal London Whitechapel, St Thomas’ Westminster, North York General, Toronto and the list continues to grow!
I gained international Doula experience working live in for a family in Toronto, Canada during Aug/Sept 2018. I have also supported a same-sex couple through their conception, pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey in London in 2018. In 2019 so far, I've provided continuous care for an American family through to baby being 12 weeks old and also supported a family with twins as their night time Doula on an ad-hoc basis.
