I have always been very passionate about youth development. Having spent most of my life coaching or teaching I would love to be a part of another child's growth and help them to thrive.
I love cooking so am quite capable in the kitchen. Recently became vegan but love to cook all kinds of food.
I currently work in a school as Inclusion Manager (Pastoral Lead) so have good experience with all types of behaviour and/or the various problems that children may encounter.
I truly love working with children and actually look forward to being a father myself, hence signing up to care for others.
Love the outdoors and playing sports which I do a lot in my free time. Like the job I have as a volunteer, coaching children Tuesday and Thursday evening.
How young children learn (under 4s) has always been fascinating to me. I spend a lot of my free time reading and learning various ways to get the best out of them and to generally just help them grow. I would love to be able to put this into practice on a daily basis.
I have a lot of experience as a teacher and a football coach in both primary and secondary education. To date I have spent 16 years in youth development; coaching or teaching something to children. I am very confident of my duty of care to all the children I interact with and am sure I have the capability of helping them learn and flourish.
At university I studied sports where some of my units were psychology based about learning and development of babies through to Adolescents and adults. Therefore I have a good theoretical understanding of youth development before adding my practical experience.
Most school holidays I have been looking after large groups of children, around 12 to 16, between the ages of 2 and13. This involved different games, movement exercises to build their ABCs (agility, balance, coordination), having lunch together and generally ensuring they are well looked after in a fun safe environment.
I was a nanny before for a couple years to my godson. I looked after him three times a week during the day. I did everything from cook for him to take him out to the park or the cinema.
